I'm the kind of person who usually only bothers to review when something is either outstanding, or really really bad. so it is rare that i post anything. but i have to say, after traveling to over 30 countries and staying at dozens of hostels, this one is by far the worst ever. if it was just a matter of being incredibly dirty, of being loud and completely swamped with drunk kids, of being a paradigm of sheer anarchy, or employing some pretty sour people (maybe owners, i don't know), then i probably wouldnt even bother to write this. after complaining to staff about the quality of my 24 hours there, and probably more importantly, how incredibly rude they were, they made it up to me: not by apologizing, not by accepting feedback, not even by ignoring me and going back to work. no, instead i was gracefully shown the door with an expletive-filled tirade directed not only at me but my entire country. i guess the logic is since we are the home of hollywood and we needlessly invade other countries, how dare we ask for the basics of respect and civility, not to mention a few hours of undisturbed sleep? pretty classy Underground, thank goodness this is not the standard of Australian hospitality!

This place has a lot of potential...... BUT.... its dirty, its loud, its overrun by Irish, whom I usually don't mind, but they only socialise with their own and generally make idiots of themselves. The administration is a miserable bunch that broadcast their rot over loud speaker several times a day like a boot camp. Unenjoyable to say the least.

This was the second hostel I stayed in while in Perth and even though it was regarded as a more upmarket kind of hostel it was a disgrace for the money.... The dorm rooms smell, they are left filthy by other backpackers and the staff don't seem to bat an eyelid! On the morning I arrived I was greeted by used condoms on the floor of the dorm! AND later that night I arrived back to my dorm after work and fell asleep only to be shortly awoken by a couple having sex in our 6bed dorm, then as I attempted to leave the room to escape the noise and creeking in the top bunk one of the other room mates had brought a 'visitor' to his bed.....
If you can stay elsewhere I would definitely recommend you do so!!

the hostel could be great, but it seriously needs new management. the irish guys who drink around the pool should not be allowed to stay. seems this hostel tolerates their behaviour. im all for drinking and meeting other backpackers but these guys just keep to themselves and yell at each other while jumping and 'bombing' in the pool all afternoon. pretty lame. i would not recommned this hostel, i think there are better guy to girl ratios at gay bars, at least 90% guys. it therefore makes it a poor hostel to drink at, and considering it is a loud hostel it also makes it a bad hostel to sleep at.
great location in northbridge, the place was clean, staff were not friendly but were helpful.possibly one of the worst atmospheres in a hostel i have stayed in.
welcome drink was a nice gesture, and $4.50 tooheys extra dry is good also
