“Great stay, highly recommend Rydges Perth”

We stayed in one the Spa suites for our wedding night. The room was gorgeous and very spacious. What did impress us was the personalised service we received, a bottle of bubbly in ice in our room when we arrived. Although my husband did try to take credit for it, the "congratulations" card did give it away! The late check out of 1.00pm was great and at no extra charge! It allowed us to sleep in, have room service for breakfast and just relax as husband and wife. Just perfect....
Thank you Rydges and your staff for a truly enjoyable stay, you will see us again for sure!

“Terrible service, rooms & price”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

My husband & I have stayed at this hotel numerous times in the past 13 years. Since having children we haven't been for a couple of years. My husband thought he would surprise me for my 30th birthday & to have a break as I am 8 months pregnant, & he arranged a night stay at the Rydges.

We were charged a total of $658 for one nights stay in a queen bed room that shared the wall with the four lifts, valet parking & breakfast.

Due to the room location, there was no view, & neither of us got a good nights sleep due to the constant rattle, bang & whirr of the lifts.

The room package came with breakfast for one, & we were charge 28 for the other breakfast- which was cold & stale at 9 am.

On paying such a ridiculous price, no one asked how our stay was, or of we enjoyed it.
All in all- a terrible stay, I definately don't recommended it & the service was terrible.

So not only did we pay a huge price for a small, pokey room next to the lifts but the staff couldn't care less about their customers.

Such a disappointment - we will never stay at the Rydges again!

“Anyone fancy a dirty sheet? Not me.”

I travel on business - a lot. I have never written a poor review but this hotel warrants one. More than anything in a hotel room you expect if to be clean. This room had very dirty linen on the bed, the bathroom had a terrible smell of feet, the bath had the 'remains' of someone before me and the mirror had some very strange hand prints which can't be missed when you walk in. For $350 per night it's atrocious! When I requested new linen for the bed- I was asked 'is that all'? I would have expected- 'what's the problem- how can we help'... Then I had 2 sheets delivered and had to go make the bed myself. Wow. If this is the best Perth can do... ?!? Terrible.

“Don't waste your money!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I would like to express my opinion on the events that happened whilst staying at your hotel.

Originally my partner booked online to stay in the Club King room for 2 nights, however when we arrived it looked nothing like it was advertised on the internet. He then went down to ask about upgrading, we were upgraded to a Club Spa Suite for an additional fee after discussions with a few people at the desk.

*Friday night we stayed in the Club Spa Suite

· My concerns arose when I used the shower, they had not been cleaned properly and to my disgust there were pubic hairs up the wall.

I had booked a massage through The Rejuvenators which are advertised in your rooms. They were meant to come at 6:30pm Friday night and never showed up not to mention the next day when they did actually arrive I had to go to the Physio Monday as they had stuffed my back. I am currently 7.5 months pregnant and was assured they knew what they were doing and experienced. He had irritated a nerve in my back and unable to take anti-inflammatory at present I now need to continue to go to the physio to have the problem rectified. I know they are out sourced but considering ‘Rydges Perth’ promotes them I thought I would pass on my feed back.
Having to pay $4.50 per bucket of ice when we are paying almost $500 per night to stay in the best room is a bit rich especially when other hotels offer free ice.
Having to pay an additional $5 per person to upgrade to a hot breakfast is also a bit ridiculous when we spent so much over the weekend and they still tried to overcharge us when we were leaving, luckily we double checked our bill before paying.
Friday evening roughly 8pm we heard a loud smash as if someone had dropped some glasses but thought nothing of it, about half an hour later we left the room (wearing thongs) to head out and to our suprise the floor was covered in chunks of glass surroundig the entrance of the lifts, half an hour ater after hearing the smash! Not very professional considering when we went down and notified the desk they (4 people standing around talking) claimed they were not aware. I would have thought staff would have been checking the floors. (room service etc)
Being very sensitive to smells at present I noticed the bedding smelt as though it has been put away wet, like a mouldy smell. The pillows were stained making it look like either the cases had not been washed or the pillow needed replacing. The smell was quiet strong at night with the air conditioner on and due to this I had to sleep on the fold out lounge, which is not very comfortable when you are pregnant.
*Saturday night we stayed in the Club King Room

Behind the door there was a mess up the wall as if someone had spilt some drink on there and never cleaned it up. The walls could have also done with a wipe down as you could see the dirt on them.
When my partner rang to book he specifically asked about the valet parking and was advised you provided it but was not made aware it would come at a fee especially when you are paying $500 a night to stay in one of your rooms. Would have appreciated at the time of booking being advised there would be a $38 per day fee for valet, that way it’s not such a shock when it appears on your bill.

Like a lot of people we are struggling and had to save up to have a good weekend away at a well respected hotel. After the experience we experienced at ‘Rydges Perth’ we will NEVER waste our money staying there again nor will we recommend it to any of our friends or family. We were also advised from a couple of other guests they too have concerns which were raised with management so this problem must occur quiet regularly.

Room Tip: No tips to give as i will Never stay here again.

Dear Opinionated86,

Thank you for the feedback I appreciate the sentiment of your posting and I am very sorry to read your comments regarding your last stay with us. Rather than respond in detail I would ask that you give me a call at a time that suits you to discuss you stay. I would of course like the opportunity to replace your negative thoughts and would like to look after another stay for you.

I would also like to hear further your thoughts on our contracted massage company - this was concerning to read and naturally I would like to know more before I pass on your comments.

Obviously, we were not successful in meeting your expectations. Hopefully we can use your feedback to improve our services. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your observations

“Almost perfect but breakfast not great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Stayed here for three nights end of December 2011. Impressive looking hotel very conveniently situated in the centre of the city. Our room was quite large, nothing particularly exceptional about it. The breakfast let it down a bit, the hot buffet was lukewarm as was the coffee. Would stay here again though.
