I booked my partner and myself for the deep sea fishing trip for his 30th birthday. We left for our fishing day at 6am form hillarys. From the minute we were out of the harbour until the minute we returned to the harbour I was violently sea-sick & couldnt even stand without being ill. Whilst I completly understand it is a risk you take going fishing & no-one can help it, the crew completly ignored me the entire time & gave no hints/tip or advice on anything to help ease the sickness. While they may not have helped or made any difference, I feel as I could have at least been offered advise, and not completly ignored. When I spoke about it with family & friends afterwards, I was given all different kinds of advice, from concentrating on the horizon to being in complete openness in the breeze. These would have been nice to try while on board, not back on land!
It was a complete waste of money for both of us, as my partner didnt even get a bite all day, and the only communicaton between the crew & him was to have a go as his line was accidentally caught between someone else's when they were winding in a fish.
The boat and the facilities were decent - but to pay as much as we did for the outing, we would have expected more.

Hi. Thanks very much for your feedback. Unfortunately your seasickness sounds like it got in the way of having a great day out with us. Usually by the time anyone is seasick, it is very difficult to reverse the feeling or state, until back on land. Some people can be physically sick, and still stand to fish, but it sounds like you could not manage to stand upright. Looking at the horizon sometimes helps,as does being in fresh air, and with the large deck area there is always plenty of that on offer. We do cover seasickness issues in the morning safety speech and give advice on what to do when we indicate where seasickness bags are kept. I will certainly remind and recommend to our Crew they give seasick individuals extra advice to try to help them throughout the day. Thanks again!
