I stayed at the Best Western Fawkner Airport Hotel for over a week. The property is well maintained, clean, and well managed. The staff is friendly, helpful and willing to give pointers to see Melbourne. Although it is located on the north side of the city, it is convenient to the Central Business District via suburban train. There are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel but many are available within a 2 kilometer distance.
The hotel itself is an older style two story building. There is a separate bedroom area, a small kitchenette area (with a small refrigerator and microwave), and a sitting/dining area. The bathroom is modern and includes a blow dryer. A laundry facility is available and has an ironing board and steam iron. Units are air conditioned.
The hotel reception area has a computer with internet access available to guests. Off street parking is free to guests.
There is a bit of road noise from Sydney Road but it was not enough to disburb sleep. The surrounding neighborhood is safe and secure.
In addition to standard rooms, there are family rooms and separate villas available. If you plan to stay in the Melbourne area for more than a few days or if you have need for family sized facilities, this property is definately worth considering.
