Stayed with friends for the Tennis Open and the club level was great. Think it would be great hotel for families. Location was perfect for Tennis Open.

I recently stayed at The Langham for two weeks and had a great experience from the moment I arrived. A prime location in all regards. My welcome from the outset felt personal and genuine as does the seamless service generally. The staff were helpful and friendly. There was much attention to detail and small touches which make all the difference. The buffet breakfast was excellent, and I liked the Aria bar which was a good place to relax and have a drink and/or light meal. The view from my 20th floor Grand River View room was amazing and watching the New Year's Eve fireworks from the pool deck was truly memorable. My only negative comment is around their much hyped afternoon tea which was disappointing. I was visiting a friend who lives in Melbourne and booked this as a treat for her. We both found it distinctly underwhelming, some items were stale, and not value for money at all. However, I would definitely return to The Langham without any doubt and intend to!

We loved our stay here. Great location in Southbank along the river, attached to the SouthGate mall and shops. Lots of yummy places to eat and easy access to walk along the river, or across the pedestrian bridge and into the city center and museums in Federation Square. We had room 1109 which had a spectacular view of the river and city center.
The Langham as wireless internet - which is not always available in Australia. We travel with small devices that do not have ethernet cable ports (iPad, smartphone and MacBook Air) - so wireless access in the room is important to us. While we did have to pay for it on balance it wasn't too bad... We selected $99 for a week of unlimited use for up to 3 devices. The daily rate is at 2 prices points - one for 200MB of data (I think that's right) and the other for unlimited. We wanted to be able to email photos home and use FaceTime (like Skype) so we felt the week of unlimited data for 3 devices was a good price. Ideally all hotels should offer wireless for free - but that is not the case in most hotels down under.
The spa was great - I had one of the best deep tissue massages ever.
Food in Melbourne is spectacular - quite a foodie city. So don't hang out in the hotel restaurant - get out and try different places.
The staff here were very helpful. The bell man got us heavy blankets to borrow to take with us to the Penguin Parade. It can be very cold in the viewing stands - so blankets are a great idea.
The lobby is gorgeous with the water feature as you enter. Room was very comfortable with good curtains if you need to sleep and want to keep the sun out. Overall we would highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Langham hotel, Southbank is in a great location. Close to all Melbourne has to offer. It's the little things that make this hotel special, they still turn down your bed in the evening, put out your hotel slippers next to the bed for you, tidy the bathroom etc. Buffet breakfast is a must do - fabulous !! b Definitely my favourite hotel in Melbourne
