I have stayed here many times on trips to Melbourne for Formula 1 and during other times. Staff are always friendly, check in/out is pretty effortless and the rooms are pretty good value. I have never actually used the kitchen here, so I'm not sure how good it is. The main upside to Greenhouse is the location; a short walk from everything you would ever need, right in the CBD.

This place was really not much.
- The kitchen was really (but really !) disgusting eventhough it was cleaned twice a day. What does that say for the guests staying there ?
- No oven in the kitchen. How do we cook a pizza ???
- Our first room was windowless !!! For the same price, we had a much better room the next day.
- Guests were very loud, drinking and yelling until late at night on the rooftop. Could hear them quite well.
- Loudspeakers with announcements from reception throughout the hotel. What is this, 1984 ???
- The wireless network was really slow.

A great place to stay in Melbourne. First of all, the location is excellent: the hostel is situated right in the middle of the city centre.
We spent 4 nights in a double room and enjoyed our stay here. The staff is cool and friendly, you have free and unlimited internet access, the kitchen is gigantic, there’s free breakfast in the morning, and there’s even a rooftop where you can eat, drink, or chill out…
Very important : it’s clean ! The showers and toilets are regularly cleaned, so you don’t have to worry about it at all.

The only two problems are the dishes (many people don’t wash their own dishes…idiots…) and the absence of windows in the rooms (or, at least, in most of the rooms). So, do not expect to spend too much time in your room.

If you don’t know where to stay in Melbourne, here’s a safe choice. No worries !

I loved this place!! The free breaky is a great idea as it frees up unecessary fridge space with people having to buy breakfeast stuff and its free, what more could anyone want. i found the staff to be friendly and laid back - had an epic time!! Must return again soon!
