“This is what a Westin should be. My standard choice in Melbourne. Nice rooms and attentive service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

This property is very well located right in the middl of the city, close to the station and all the other sights and amenities. What sets it apart is that with the exception of the somewhat snotty front desk staff, everyone else is absolutely focused on delivering superb service. The respnsiveness of service express and the seamless manner in which that concept is executed is a benchmark for all other westins and other chains for that matter, to aspire to. Wonderful property - wish my travel got me to the Westin melbourne more often.

Room Tip: If you dont like street noise ask for something facing away from the main street.

“Terrible Service- Terrible Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Great Location in the middle of the city- so decided to stay here. When we checked in Late at night (2am) and the Hotel was locked up- even though there are signs up on the doors (which Look Horrible for 5 star) it was still hard to work out how to get in. Once we proceeded to the check in counter the Receptionist was very RUDE and not welcoming. As we were a young couple he did not treat us well at all. Not once did he smile and not once did he look at us.

He passed us the paperwork and said "Sign here and I need photo ID and a credit card"-Very Rude. after about 10minutes as he took so long to check us in he finally gave us our room key. We went up to the room and as we entered the room the lights were on, the TV was on and the bar fridge door was open...... There were hairs in the bath and there was only 1 towel- this room was definately not cleaned properly. We ordered some room service beers and the lady who bought them in was rude - also didnt smile!! put them on the table and handed us the bill to sign- she did not say a word to us. When we signed she waited there for a couple of minutes obviously wanting a tip and making it obvious..

We then checked out early in the morning and did a express checkout and I am still yet to recieve my tax invoice via email. I have been overcharged and need to have a look at the bill to see why? and the westin have still not got in touch with me. I have called twice and emailed twice about my complaint and bill and still have not heard from them. I keep getting told the Front office Manager Rikesh will be in touch with me (for the past 4 days) and still NOTHING. This service is appalling for a 5 star Hotel where the rooms are over $300 per night...... If someone had got in touch with me about my bill and complaint I would not be posting this on here!!!

On a positive- The beds were very COMFORTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Reviewer. We regret your experience was not a fulfilling one and would like to address your concerns. Our Front Office Manager responded to your email on the same day it was received (7th of February) and we can also confirm our system shows an invoice has been emailed successfully on the email address provided. We were not aware these hadn’t been received at your end. As was stated in our reply, we would like to sincerely apologize for the reception you were given when you arrived to check in for the night. We have addressed this with the staff member concerned and pointed out the negative impression it has created. Our Executive Housekeeper is also looking into the cleanliness standards of the room when you arrived. This is definitely unacceptable and we appreciate that you did not call to have this rectified as it was very late at night. We would still value the opportunity to resolve your concerns directly and request that you contact our Front office Manager as soon as possible. If there is ever an opportunity to for you to stay with us again, we would certainly ensure you receive the true “Westin Experience”.

“Perfect choice for Melbourne”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Good location in the middle of the city, comfy beds and rooms of a decent size and overall good value for money. It delivers the Westin formula really well and you know what you are going to get. A really good choice for a business hotel in Melbourne and I think a good choice for a weekend base in the city as well.

“Week-end retreat in the Centre of Melbourne....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

A quick w/e in Melbourne from Tokyo, arriving early on a Friday morning, leaving Sunday night on the overnight flight via Sydney. A sportsmad town, we were there for the tennis (Australian Open). Superb location in the Centre of Town, close to restaurants, shopping and a run by the river / around the botannical gardens.
Staff welcomed us early and found us a lovely room despite our early arrive, the concierge was superb at making good reservations while the bellman were welcoming and friendly as well as providing godo jogging maps / directions.

Room Tip: 2nd Floor, closer to SPA, main dining room

“Classy, Super Location, Great Rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Central Location is a boon for travellers, because many attractions as well as the Tram Stations are within walking distance.
Finding this Hotel can be hard for first-timers, as it is tucked away on Collins, and access is via an inconspicuous 'cave'-like ramp. Despite warnings from our GPS, we overshot and had to loop around via Flinders St Station and back again. Narrow car lanes on Collins, aggressive drivers and the quirky Melbourne rule of "Right Turn from Left Lane only" did not help.

Check in was efficient. The Hotel Lobby is quite relaxing with lots of space to sit back & unwind.
Access to all hotel facilities is via key-card which is a useful security feature.
We had rooms looking out to Swanston St and quite liked the view.
Bathrooms had all Mod Cons (His & Hers sinks, Rain Shower cubicle, and a Bath), and supplies were of excellent quality. We quite liked the 'green' leaf shaped soaps.
Valet Parking is available at 50AUD a day, which was worth the location & convenience.
Gym was well equipped (machines, cardio equipment, free weights, mats etc).
We didn't dine at the Hotel as we had limited time, and were busy exploring the city.
The Concierge desk was helpful with suggestions on activities & access.

We enjoyed our 3 days here and would love to go back.

Room Tip: We had rooms on a higher floor looking out to Swanston Street, and quite liked the view.
