“great location, great atmosphere and well serviced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

everything was perfect except our bed was uncomfortable (too soft and a bit like a canoe) and our pillows too soft. we asked for firmer pillows and more arrived but they were the same as the others. the bed was also too small...I would have thought all hotel rooms could use king sized beds by now? but these were minor in the scheme of things. I would still return. great room, and we asked for a room on the front and got it which was great (overlooking the street). loved the decor, and the bathrooms were nice. Lovely lobby too all round winner, (except for the pillows!)

Room Tip: I would ask for a room overlooking the front street. Not too noisy, and nice view and very large win...

The hotel has a couple of challenges that can't be solved such as the view out to a car park. However, the things the staff and management can control like the atmosphere and the service have taken me back at least 8 times in the last year. Perhaps if I were on holidays I MIGHT view other aspects differently but as a a place to stay on business, close to everything and where you feel welcome and not like a number. The staff are great with a special mention for the 2 young ladies (almost twins!) who serve breakfasts in the resturant - delightful!

“Nothing to get excited over”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Average is really the only way I can describe this Hotel. We booked for our last night in Australia before tackling the long journey back to London, and for our sins I guess, we had the worst night's sleep imaginable. The 'queen' beds are tiny, rooms slightly claustrophobic, and the aircon was incredibly loud and noisy. We were not informed of the black out blinds (very easy to miss with the very tall bay windows) so we were practically left with a room full of fluorescent light streaming in from the adjacent carpark. Yes, we too were given one of these less savoury rooms. The public spaces are a little dark and depressing, and again slightly short on service. In my dazed state during check-out at 6am in the morning I didn't notice that the receptionist failed to hand me back my credit card with the receipt. Only clocked what happened when we were checking in at the airport. A simple mistake, but one that really shouldn't have happened. Not good.

Room Tip: Book one of the larger rooms and make sure it has a king bed, as what you'll probably end up wit...

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We recently stayed at the Hotel Lindrum for our first trip to the Australian Open.
The proximity to Melbourne Parc was great, it was a very easy walk. There were
many cafe's within a short distance as well. The room was well appointed and
we were very comfortable. The ceilings were high and that made the room feel
even more spacious. Many people have written about the car park next to
the Lindrum. Our window did look out over the car park and while the view was
non-existent, we didn't feel like it was an issue at all since we were only there
for the tennis.

Room Tip: If a view is important for you, ask for a room that looks over Flinders street.

“Good location, nice reception, rooms are unsatisfactory”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

The general feel of the hotel is nice with a smart reception area and bar. The location is perfect - walking distance from everything. However, our room left much to be desired.
The room was small and dark. We were unable to open the blinds to let in any natural light as our room window faced a carpark which was a surprise given the cost of the room. It was also lit-up all night which was bearble as we could pull the blinds to block it out.
The TV was tiny with poor reception - we couldn't even get all the free to air stations. The air con was also very noisy.
We didn’t eat at the hotel as there are so many top places around the hotel to eat.
I had been recommended this hotel by someone who had stayed there multiple times so my rating is room specific. I am willing to give it another try however I will explore other hotel options first and if I do book into the Lindrum, I will make sure I get a room guarantee before I go.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a view
