“Great room, dreamy bed, wonderful service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

I stayed NYE without time to checkin before midnight and received a call from reception to ensure I was still on my way. The very helpful chap also helped direct me to the hotel from the city (mostly on foot) and then the last leg in the dark from the tram. Beyond the call of duty. Efficient checkin- including a $30 refund because they had no spa rooms available (no probs and thrilled for the refund). The room was comfortable, large, quiet and welcoming. Breakfast buffet for extra $10when booking was well worth it and the staff effiicent and friendly. Walk around neighboruhood afterwards revealed the Gardens, IMAX and the Museum about 2 blocks away and the sensational Lygon Street (with cafes open NY day) 2 blocks the other direction. And private $17 for the shuttle to Tullamarine organised by front desk so easy - and cheaper than the bus. Would be happy to return.

“Great location, and very nice since the recent refurb! walk to great food, etc...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the past few years.... it is very well located in the heart of Carlton - just a block off Lygon Street and the Italian eateries! Walking distance to a lovely movie house - the Nova, which has screens some good art-house cinema. The rooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms, whilst small are lovely. I had a meeting to attend on trendy Brunswick Street in Fitzroy, which was about a 20 minute walk - very easy! Will definitely be back. The staff were friendly and helpful... and if you have a car, the parking is at no additional charge.

Room Tip: All rooms seem nice and quiet, as it is just one block off Lygon Street.

“Homely sanctuary in Carlton, Melbourne”

My eighteen-year-old daughter and I stayed here for three nights while she visited Melbourne University. We chose it because of its excellent location, one block from Lygon Street, with all its shops and restaurants, also very close to the University. We were however, to find that there was so much more to the hotel than its convenient location. Despite being so close to all the amenities bustling Carlton has to offer, once inside the hotel there is a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The staff at reception and in the breakfast room were lovely, very polite and friendly and the room was spotlessly clean. Our room was at the back of the building, overlooking the pool, and was beautifully quiet during both the day and night. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor area with the very attractive pool. The whole visit was an absolute delight and I am hoping my daughter ends up studying in Melbourne as I would certainly like to visit this hotel again.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back of the building, away from the street and overlooking the pool. It was ext...

“Very comfortable and well appointed room”

I found the room to be a good home from home for a week. The bed was comfortable and there was a good sized flat screen TV. My room was a good size, with a lounge area witha sofa and coffee table, which helped me to relax. The bath room was fine.
The location is a little out of the centre but its right next to Carlton, the Italian area of Melbourne, which has a nice lively feel to it, with lots of Restaurants. The tram to the centre is only a couple of minutes walk and there is a convinience store very close by.
The room did not have double glazing so was not really well sound proofed, but its in a realitively quiet area so it was not much of a problem.
Would stay here again.

“Call for best rate ($145)”

Email, send post-card, but don't use website for best rates. Call If you can connect!

Hotel location and room are good. Shower can be a bit hot. Check-in service is appalling. Clerks are too busy on personal matters, and the manager is shameless. Hotel can not answer their own phones even after multiple tries. Booking through their own website is _not_ the lowest rate.
