“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for 4 nights with our 2 teenaged daughters in January. The place looks like it's recently undergone refurbishment and our apartment looked quite stylish with new furnishings. This isn't a 5 star hotel, but the girls thought it was pretty cool and loved having their own bathroom, as well as swimming in the hotel's indoor pool after a day of Melbourne sightseeing. Mantra on the Park was really great value for a family of 4 as 2 bedroom apartments in Melbourne are not cheap, but we also got a good rate of one night free.

Lots of people seem to stay in the many apartment buildings around Southbank, but to us that was a bit limiting in location. We had Lygon St, Fitzroy, Victoria Markets, Brunswick all close by, as well as a supermarket not far away and a convenience store on the corner. There is also a free tram across the road from the hotel which takes you down to Federation Square etc and from there St Kilda or wherever. We would stay here again definitely.

“Quite good for family stay”

We stayed 4 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment in January, with 2 adults and 3 children. It was a good size, pleasant and clean, with a view over Carlton Gardens. The location is great, you can hop on the free city circle tram or walk easily to the city, Brunswick St and Lygon Street. For the price, I have few complaints. However, the aircon was not working. A service technician was called up quickly, but he just looked at it and said "it looks like it's working", and left. Lucky we had missed the heatwave, it would have been very uncomfortable. The lifts also broke down several times during our stay. The reception staff were run off their feet the day we arrived, but remained super helpful and friendly.
If you are a fussy sleeper, note that the pillows are not good. There was no extra quilt supplied for the sofa bed in the living room, although we paid for the extra child. On the plus side, the room was very quiet, with very little noise from adjoining apartments or the street below. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but the room service menu is very reasonable.

Room Tip: Don't stay on one of the upper floors with small children. The balcony access is not suitable fo...

I am pleased you enjoyed your stay - apologies for the air con and lift issues, our technicians have since fixed the issues with both.

“excellent hotel”

We have recently returned from our stay at the Mantra on the Park, Melbourne. It was a very clean Hotel. The studio apartment we stayed in, had all the facilities we required. The rooms were very spacious and very clean. The swimming pool was adequate, with a supply of clean towels. The Hotel restaurant was ok although it closed at 9.30pm as did the bar, although we were only a short stroll from bars and restaurants. It was situated right beside the free tram service, so it was easy to get around the city.

“Girls Weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Stayed two nights Jan 2012, we had booked a one bedroom apartment to sleep 3. We rang a few days prior to our stay and were offered an upgrade to a two bedroom apartment for very little extra. The reception staff were great, helpful with maps, information and directions etc. Late checkout no problem. The apartment was very clean modern spacious and comfortable. We had a small balcony that overlooked the park. The airconditioning worked fine. Great location close to free City Circle tram and Lygon Street restaurants. Another great restaurant called Trunk was just one blockaway. There is also a restaurant in the hotel that has very friendly staff but can get overly busy at breakfast time though we were there during the Australian open so it was a very busy time. We all loved our stay and will be staying again. They also have an indoor pool and on site parking (fees).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the park. We stayed on the 6th floor.

“Mantra on the park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Stayed here for three nights and was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews, however when we walked into the room we were greeted with a great two bed apartment that had new carpets, kitchen and clean new furniture, the bedrooms were very stylish and the view over the park just lovely. The front of house staff were very good and helpful, well done. The only negatives were that the aircon was a little temperamental and the bathrooms haven't had the same attention as the rest of the apartment and were in need of a little care too. I think the hotel is doing some upgrading and they are doing a great job. Location not for from Lagon street doesn't help the waist line;), free trams right outside the door. Good job
