“Outstanding venue exceptional experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

What an outstanding hotel the Islington is. This is a truly spectacular venue, the ambience is sublime. You must have dinner in one night, the chowder outstanding the rack of lamb delicious and the chocolate fondant delightful.

We were at the Islington for our wedding anniversary and it was the perfect way to spend our celebration.

The honour system in the bar downstairs is delightful. Our room just beautiful including luxurious bath and super shower

Awesome place to stat

Wonderful sentiments indeed, and to make things better our a la carte restaurant is now open Wednesday – Sunday nights inclusive. By very popular demand!

This hotel was luxurious, casual, elegant and comfortable. The art was fantastic and the food was delicious.

Everything about it was great. I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: I loved the attic room

Thanks to JC for using all the adjectives I usually do when talking to friends and colleagues about Islington; comfortable, elegant, casual, luxurious. The ability to produce an attentively relaxed guest relations experience is a rare almost unique feature of the hotel, and Chef Jonathan Alexander’s menu is consistently producing out the type of unpretentious dishes I want to see more of in hotel restaurants. Apparently I’m not the only one.

“The best of the best...”

From the moment we drove in the private gates this hotel surpassed our expectations. The staff were lovely, the setting so romantic and the room was immaculate. Too tired to venture back in to Hobart we decided to stay for dinner (cooked by the in house chef) where we sampled mussels, lamb and an outstanding seafood chowder. Our garden room had a complimentary mini bar, bath products by Aesop and the latest Marie Clare magazine as well as a fresh vase of roses that had been picked from the gardens just before our arrival. Before Thursday I never knew that this hotel existed - now I don't know how I will be able to stay in any other accommodation in Hobart again. Try it. I promise you won't regret it!

Room Tip: Dine in. The food is as good as you will find at the top notch dining establishments in Hobart.

“An absolute gem!”

The Islington offers a unique experience to travellers visiting Hobart. From the georgian facade to the luxurious public rooms it is an absolue delight. My favourite space is the wonderful conservatory area sipping a glass of wine in front of the fire looking out at Mt. Wellington in the distance. Added to this luxury is a wonderful chef who provides the most delicious fare. Lovely bedrooms complete the sense of contentment to be enjoyed at this great Hotel.

The conservatory is my favourite space also; winter, summer, anytime the room’s ambient temperature is ingeniously regulated by way of underfloor heating in winter and temperature controlled louvers to create a cooling breeze in summer.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of my 50th birthday celebrations. We Loved this hotel!!
It is so stylish, comfortable and luxurious, it is hard to leave. Our room overlooked the garden and Mt Wellington. The food was a sensation, the chef is excellent and the staff are so welcoming. loved the artwork and the sumptious rooms to relax in with a port after dinner.
We also had a night at the Henry James- good, but if you really want a treat, you can't beat this place!!
