Our last three nights in Tasmania would be spent in Hobart so we intended to choose a better hotel to round our trip up. Picked Hotel Collins out from Tripadvisors based on its generally positive reviews and its modern design.
1) Location - wonderfully centrally located. Salamanca Market, Tourist Information Centre, Hobart dock and restaurants, day tour meet-up points are all within 10 to 15 mins of walking distance. There is absolutely no need to drive until you need to get to farther places such as Huon Valley, Airwalk, etc. This saved us time and headache in looking for a parking space, which could be difficult in Hobart.
2) Room design - very modern, no-frills, which is what we like. White walls and furniture/linen of neutral colours. It's simple but not bleak. The layout of the room we got may be a bit strange and angular. However we have enough space to move about. This also gives us more corners in the room and they are installed with windows, letting in a generous amount of light. The main window in the living room offers a view of the snow-capped Mount Wellington. The walk-in shower can be improved with an addition of a glass door though. It does has a small block to stop the water but a full size door will surely give people more security.
3) Cleanliness - spotless, nothing to complain about.
4) Laundry - Laundry is located...Our last three nights in Tasmania would be spent in Hobart so we intended to choose a better hotel to round our trip up. Picked Hotel Collins out from Tripadvisors based on its generally positive reviews and its modern design.

4) Laundry - Laundry is located in lower floor (forgot which floor). All machines (washing, drying, washing powder dispenser) requires a small amount of money to initiate. We came back to the hotel quite late that night and was afraid we did not have enough time to do the laundry before they closed the service for that day. However their machines were extremely quick. I wonder if they are of industrial level. It took less than an hour to have all our cloths done and dried.
5) Staff/Internet/Quietness - Staff was friendly and it did not feel forced. Sometimes hotel staff could be trained to behave so nice that they felt like a robot. Not the reception staff we came across here. He was just easy-going and friendly and gave us some tips to stroll around the city (and warned us of random parking fine too). We did have a bit of problem with the internet though. Our devices just could not pick it up. They said they ran into an issue that particular day. However we still could not pick the signal up after they said it had been fixed.
I noticed some reviewers mentioned the noise level in this hotel. Which we did not experience during our 3-day stays here (including a weekend). Perhaps it was because we stayed on a higher floor.
Generally we were extremely satisfied with this hotel and when we are back to Hobart we would not hesitate to book this hotel again.More
