Together with my husband and 3 children we were visiting relatives and friends in OZ.We visited Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.Whilst in Adelaide we decided to go and see some of the famous Australian wildlife having disappointingly only seen Kangaroo warning signs.
We found Ulonga Lodge advertised in the Sealink brochure in their shop in Adelaide and also on the net.Sadly from experience we have been too often been disappointed having seen places in glossy brochures looking nothing like he real deal.Ulonga Lodge appeared to fit the bill sleeping 5 for a reasonable price.
We travelled by ferry to the island and arrived on speck at the lodge. We were met by the charming manager Cath, she like ourselves are from the UK,she has an her infectious enthusiasm for the island and her enviable new life.
The lodge is on the sea front, 20 yards from the sea.It is on the sea front where the pelicans gather at tea time, we were lucky enough to feed the Pelicans with fish donated to us by some fishermen who were staying at the lodge, what an experience. When the pelicans had had their fill they were replaced by the wallabies..just fantastc.
We stayed for 3 nights in the units, they are clean comfortable and basic.we were only after a base, and the lodge just fitted the bill.
Cath recommended a number of places to visit, sadly too many to do in the time we had.We managed to see the amazing Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch, Parndana Wildlife Park and sun bathe on the beautiful Vivinne Bay beach we also saw the lttle penguins emerge from the sea at Penneshaw.
We always say when we leave a place on holiday that we will go back sometime but Cath it really is a promise!!
