Michael and Julie have taken over an existing B&B a couple of years ago. They are a nice couple but I am not sure they feel entirely at home sharing their home with strangers. Obviously most B&B’s pride themselves on offering a cooked breakfast which they make clear from the outset they do not. Which is fine except they still insist that breakfast is from 7.30 to 9.30. I was planning a trip which meant leaving at 7.30 which was before breakfast, and was offered breakfast in my room which I turned down but woulod have thought this would have been more work than me using the loely breakfast room. Afterall apart from putting the bread out in a basket, and putting on perc coffee what was there to do. But I had the biggest TV I have ever seen in my room
They have a pool, but the first time I went to use it (about 7pm) they had put chemicals in so it was out of bounds. They were genuinely very apologetic, but I feel this is an indication of them doing things to fit around their life and not that of their guests.
The location is a bit between. It was unsurprisingly very hot when I was there in January, and it was quite a walk to Henley square, the main place with shops, restaurants and phone box, but the only internet access was further on in the local library. I did take the bus to Glenelg and then the tram to Adeaide city. And managed to get the last bus back to Henley square at 5.15pm! So I think a car is essential if you stay here.
I had a problem at home so decided to move to Glenelg where I could get easy access to internet and public phones, in the middle of shops and restaurants, and for not much more than I paid I got a hotel room for two nights with a phone and broadband in my room. Of course I had already paid for the B&B so it turned out to be the most expensive two nights of my entire trip to Oz but for the internet, telephone and ease of getting food and getting around it was worth it. my experience with BB in Oz andin UK makes me rate this not very high.
