A party of eight of us stayed at the Adina in 3 apartments during February 2013 for two nights before heading off to do the Murray River house boating experience.
The apartment myself & daughter were allocated was not ready on our arrival, we weren’t informed of this at check in & walked in on the housekeeper still in the process of cleaning from the previous occupants, so it wasn't a great start.
The apartment was huge, clean & comfortable it had a large lounge/dining area & a perfectly adequate kitchenette. Our apartment had a connecting door to our friends who were staying next door. Our living room overlooked a little church with the most beautiful stained glass windows.
A minor but irritating issue was the endless problems with the swipe room entry cards. We had to have them re-issued at least 4 times during our two night stay.
The building itself is beautiful & the court yard area really relaxing. Our friend told us the breakfast/brunch was really nice but unfortunately when we went for brunch on Sunday morning at 11 am we were told the area was closed & there would be no further food or beverage service until Monday morning!! (I got the impression this part of the building is independent from the hotel). We later discovered quite a few restaurants do close on Sunday.
The location is great, very convenient to the market (which is fabulous), main retails areas and places to eat. Most areas are within a 10 – 15 minute walk. However don’t forget the sunscreen it was a sweltering 38 -40 degrees most days we were in Adelaide. There are two tram stops very close by which are free to use locally, you simply hop on & off as you wish. If you are going as far as the beach area by tram (well worth a visit) there is a small charge.
All in all it was a pleasant comfortable stay, although I thought a little expensive compare to New Zealand hotel prices and with the poor exchange rate this was to be expected.
Would I return - yes why not.

We recently had an overnight stay at this hotel.

Location is very handy to Chinatown markets, shopping in CBD etc.

In my opinion the beds have seen better days although the linen and towels did feel luxurious.

I have what I would consider very good hearing and I struggled to hear the TV on full volume. They limit the televisions I guess for other guests comfort however I think they limit them a little too much. The TVs also don't allow for HDMI connection (of say laptop etc.).

Although clean, spacious and boasting friendly service we will likely not be returning as we feel it is overpriced for what you get considering a few of the other hotels in the area.

We (couple +teenage daughter ) stayed here in a one bedroom apartment in January over the Australia Day long weekend. Our first floor apartment was on the corner of King William and Flinders Streets.Even though we were on a busy intersection we heard no street noise. Our stay also coincided with the Santos International Bike ride, so there was plenty of associated action with the bike ride. We requested a roll away bed for our daughter which was an additional $40 per night. A bit expensive I think. There were no heavy drapes in the living room where the bed was placed and the street lights shone straight into the living room. The apartment is spacious and well furnished. Bathroom is spacious and wheelchair friendly. The Treasury building is well located and its an easy walk to Central Markets and Rundle Mall. We would stay here again.

Room tip: You do not hear traffic if you get a first floor street facing roomj.

Dear annaabelle,

Thank you so much for your feedback.

I am really pleased you enjoyed your stay and I agree, the apartments have great sound proofing.

I am sorry about the light shining into the living room, we are in a process of getting this rectified at the moment.

I am so pleased you found the apartment to be spacious and relaxing and that you enjoyed all the excitement with the Tour Downunder.

I hope your travels bring you back to Adelaide very soon.

This beautiful old building was the South Australian Treasury building and has been refurbished now into a great place to stay in Adelaide. Some of the original stonework and columns are preserved with bits of memorabilia and old photographs. It is well situated on Flinders Street and one can walk anywhere in town within minutes. The great restaurants in Rundle St are a short stroll away, perfect to walk down a fine dinner. The hotel itself has those huge spacious corridors, wonderful ceilings and spacious rooms. They are self-contained with a good-sized kitchen and washing machine located in the bathroom. Rooms at the back are quiet, but Adelaide is not as noisy a city as other larger capital cities. Taxis seem to be a rare beast in peak hour – we ordered one 45 minutes prior a meeting and it never came – other guests lined up out the front had the same issues. Rule – in Adelaide don’t rely on taxis. I’d recommend the Adina and certainly return.

I'm thrilled you enjoyed the enchanting treasury building, we have done our best to keep all its natural charm and I agree, the photos and two mini-museums around the building along with the tunnels make for a wonderful experience.

I am sorry about the taxi situation, I have since been in touch with our taxi company and we are working on a better communication system between the hotel and their call centre to ensure we are continually improving all aspects of the hotel experience.

The Adina Apartment Hotel is centrally located on Victoria Square, within ten minute walking distance of either China Town or the Rundle Street Mall. We got an excellent internet rate (by Australian standards) and were assigned an enormous suite on the ground floor with full kitchen. The ground floor apartment was a bit odd, but we realized that this hotel had to be sympathetically fitted into an historic building. Parking was not an issue for us, since we arrived late on a Sunday and had to be off early the next morning...there was a free spot steps from the front door...but it could be an issue outside these times. The suite was perfectly outfitted. The front desk was proper if not effusive. Really no complaints at all.

Room tip: You get what you request and pay for. Ground floor rooms might be a bit dark, although in summer in SA this is not a bad thing.
