“Very nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Just found this to be a very nice hotel - I was upgraded which was nice.

Very nice bathroom, spacious, and pride themselves on good mini prices - $5.50 for a James Boag beer from the mini bar is excellent value - good on them!

It is a CBD location - expect some noise from the street - especially Friday and Saturday nights.

Parking - valet park with the hotel - it'll cost you $28 per day, which is cheaper than parking yourself. It may be cheaper to make other arrangements on the weekend, but check with the front desk and they'll advise.

“Nice bathroom, good room but terrible service in the restaurant”

You know when a hotel has a restaurant just because they need to for their four star rating. The restaurant really does seem like an after thought. We waited to be seated for at least five minutes, then sat at our table for a good ten minutes without being given menus, a drink or even acknowledgement. We decided to leave and go to the market for dinner. I don't think they even noticed we left! Breakfast in the restaurant was better; although they could have done with more staff.
Nice room, comfy bed and ok for a business stay.

“Great room and AMAZING bathroom but terrible service!”

Me and a friend stayed at the Rendezvous Hotel Adelaide in for 4 nights in January 2012.
When we first arrived the reception area was without power. As we checked in the staff told us that they where temporarily having some power problems and that it was being fixed as we spoke. The lights kept flickering on and off so we took his word. Fortunately the lifts where working, our room was on the 8th floor.

Cutting a long story short: The next morning I was not feeling well and just wanted a nice warm shower but there was no hot water. I rang reception and they said "Oh thats not working either, bye". No apologies, nothing. After having a cold shower we decide to go explore Adelaide, we left the room and got to the lift. After waiting for several minutes we realised the lifts also where not working. We found a very poorly signposted exit to the stair well and made our way down. Most of the stairwell was not event lit, it was pitch black and yet it was meant to be an emergency exit. Luckily I had a light built into my phone that I used to get down the stairs. We found some other people in the stair well that could not get out. The doors where locked so they where stuck in the dark in the stair well. The 4 of us then continued to the very bottom of the stairwell past until we found a door that opened onto the street! I'm sure if there was a fire in that hotel people would die in the stairwells.

I continued to get sicker and ended up in the hospital with server dehydration and food poisoning. When I returned to the hotel to my surprise the lifts where not working again. I climbed the seven stories of stairs to my floor to find the door locked. I was stuck in the stair well again while suffering from dehydration. The hospital told me to rest and I found my self going all the way down the stair back to reception for them to tell me i had to use the stairs on the other side of the building. The stairway was also pitch black but with bath towels shoved between the door to keep it from locking shut. I finally made it back to the room. Later my friend also returned who was getting me some medicine. He told me he met a woman as he was come up to our floor that said she was stuck in the lift for 45min the day before!

By this stage all the guest where asking for new hotels, we decided to do the same. Reception told us we would be transferred to another hotel and that we would just have to bring our bags down to reception. Up the pitch black stairs we went then back down them with our luggage! We explained to reception that we have dinner plans with friends and that we would like to be transferred once we get back from dinner (which we where already late for). Reception said that would be fine.

When we returned from dinner we asked for our luggage so our friends could drive us to the new hotel. Reception said, "No, the power is back at the moment, we will not be transferring you" I expressed my anger then agreed to stay in our current room. Thats when they told us they couldn't find our booking and that we couldn't get back into our room. They had no record of us ever staying in the hotel.Cutting it short... half and hour later we where aloud back into our room.

Worst service ever! If this hotel shows any signs of power failure if you ever stay there, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

“Just What We Needed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

My partner and I stayed here overnight for our anniversary as a special treat. We booked a deal for past guests that included breakfast, a bottle of bubbly on arrival, carparking and late checkout.

The staff were just lovely. I had organised a special surprise parcel for my partner to be delivered to the hotel and the staff called me to make sure I knew that it had arrived and was ready in my room for us. On arrival we were given a free upgrade (hey, it helps to put if it's a special occasion in your booking notes) which was really nice of them. When we got up to the room the gift was in there awaiting our arrival but our bottle of bubbly was missing! When we popped back down to reception to give the staff a gentle reminder that we had a package deal they were very apologetic and arranged for it to be sent up right away.

Our room was a corner room on the 14th floor and it had a balcony (even though it was tiny, it was great to have) plus plenty of room to move around. The bed was very comfy and even though there was building going on across the road we didn't hear a thing. The TV was easy to watch from the bed as well which is always a plus.

The only odd thing was using the pool/spa area. We went at 11:00am since we had late check out and no one was around. The strange part was that there is an English language college next door and the pool views the street through full glass walls. It was like these students had never seen people swim in a pool, they were staring and some were hanging out of the window! We got used to the students staring at us but we felt like we were in a fish bowl at first.

I'm an Adelaide local and can genuinely say that everything you need is well within walking distance including the tram to the Entertainment Centre/Glenelg, trains and busses, Rundle Mall and the Central Markets. I would also advise visiting BTS Cupcakes on Pirie Street while staying here.

This isn't the first time that I've stayed at the Rendezvous and it most certainly wasn't the last.

“Good and bad...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I'll start with the good;
The room is nice and clean with a spacious bathroom. The staff are generally friendly, the valet/busboys have opened the door for me one in five times (not really an issue). The food in the restaurant is of a good standard.

The bad;
The restaurant staff are lacking in skill. If I am sittingdown to spend $70+ dollars on dinner for one I don't think I should have to walk to the bar to pour my own water or call the waiter for another drink. Also I was not given cutlery for my entree.The service is inconsistent, night one I get offered bread a couple of times and the next none.

Good potential just a few hiccups in regards to restaurant service.
