We had a terrible booking agent via the central booking agency. Unfortunately we arrived at Mantra on Hindmarsh Sq to find that it lacked all of the specified requirements. We had had Mantra on Frome described to us, but were booked at Hindmarsh Sq, at considerably greater cost. Thankfully, Luke, Manager at Frome, got on board and had us re booked (and refunded the difference) at Frome where we DID have a full kitchen, laundry, bath and more affordable parking ($15 P/N self parking as opposed to $25 P/N valet parking). We were travelling with our 14mth old daughter so these facilities were a must. Full credit must go to Siv, Reservations Manager at Frome, who looked after us so well during our 5 night stay. She was always approachable, helpful and even called to check we were happy with the room after we checked in. The only problem we encountered was disruption on the last night from a rowdy Hen's Night group housed next door. Their behavior was disgusting and inconsiderate but this is something Mantra cannot change! We had cause to alert Reception and they gave the group a (fairly un heeded) warning. Thankfully, Siv accommodated us a late check out the next (our last) day, so bubs was able to have a nap before we left. The restaurant downstairs wasn't to our taste or budget, but many venues were walkable. The street noise is quite significant - perhaps double glazing or the like should be considered? Bathroom fittings require an update and shelving must be installed - was really nowhere to place toiletries etc. Hooks on door would also be great. Mould seemed to build up quickly too. Permanent ventilation/fan system was a good idea but perhaps needs beefing up? More rooms with baths and balconies are needed - ours was the only one on our level hence the street facing position. Lounges covered in beige suede not ideal for holiday apartments! Fans required in bedrooms overnight too. (N.B. These were listed as able to be requested and we did not request them. We did however request clothes racks which were delivered promptly and able to be used permanently during our stay). Went to Hindmarsh for 'buffet' breakfast one morning and was able to have it billed back to the Room which was convenient but the meal was EXPENSIVE and disappointing. Not a wide selection of foods and didn't include coffee! Upon departing we saw another table of toast and cereal etc we had not been aware of when seated and.breakfasting. Disappointing. Glad we were refunded 'included breakfasts' for the 5 days as far better bang for buck elsewhere. Chef was lovely, however. Didn't like pre paying in entirety prior to the trip, nor paying a credit card surcharge. The agent we dealt with was less than helpful and in fact, quite terse. Could easily put people off Mantra holidays. Overall, a great experience in beautiful Adelaide. Thanks Siv!! :-)
