Lets start at the beginning...I had never heard of Paradise Bay until the Cudo Deal but Thanks to them because this was one of the best getaways I have ever had! Yes we got a great deal but I would pay full price for this place! Rosie took our booking and she was great very friendly and we had a lengthy chat even though she was terribly busy with the hundreds of other calls she had to make. Great Start!
I was nervous about the helicopter transfer but in one word... AWESOME! What a way to go to a destination! We were greeted warmly by Nicole and Sophie and sat down for a run down on how the resort works with a glass of bubbly and chocys..yum. We then went to our bungalow which was simple but luxurious. The kings size beds are great and pillows are perfect. The little toiletries were a great touch and Elise(housekeeper) left something different each day. The chupa chups were great when chillin out reading a book in the hammock. There is no AC as it is an Eco resort but the fan at night is all that is needed as there was a constant breeze.
The restaurant area is set up wonderfully, comfey lounges, sunloungers, tables and chairs and an outdoor rain shower, also good to cool down with if you decide to have a lazy day. The food is always great and they cater for any dietary needs or preferences (like well cooked meat). The wine is matched with dinner and Soph does a great job explaining it. We did eat as a group 3 out of 4 nights and 1 night set up as couples. The people we met were a varied bunch but I don't think I have laughed so much in a long time! We even exchanged info when we left! You end up making friends here because of the intimacy of the resort only 10 couples at any one time. We had 9 couples when we were there, great bunch.
They have a speed boat (takes 6) and the catamaran(8), each day Greg comes at Breakfast and lets us know what he has planned for the day whether it be bushwalking, snokelling, visiting Whitehaven or just sailling around the whitsundays. How hard is that to take??? If you don't want to do what is planned then chill out at the resort and let them take care of you! They are tripping over themselves to serve you! They also have kayaks to take out for a paddle to spot the stingrays and turtles (we saw 2).Or you can play boardgames with the other guests many a laugh with Balderdash!
The girls do a great job dressing up the tables each night and the sunset cocktails and nibbles are to die for! Todd and Victor the chefs are amazing! My husbands birthday cake was divine. Thanks guys for such wonderful meals.
I cannot recommend this highly enough especially for any couples who need to completely getaway from busyness of everyday life. Expect wildlife in all forms, mozzies, march flies etc, they have an endless supply of aeroguard and sunscreen on hand to help with that. The wallabies are cute and curlew birds can be noisy critters at night but hey you are on an island in the tropics it is all part of the experience.
You leave how you came in, in a helicopter, this time I was pumped! We had such a relaxing, pampered time at Paradise I was not nervous! My husband and I had grins from ear to ear when we landed and even now 24 hrs after being home we cannot get the place out of our minds!
To Todd,Sophie,Victor,Nicole,Elise,Greg,Dave, and Stacey(decky) you made our stay memorable, one that we will treasure always. God Bless you all, you are such wonderful people! We will come back if someone buys Paradise (we wish we could!) and see you again for another break in the little slice of Heaven called Paradise Bay. Best wishes for the future.
