“A Rare Find....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Its not the room service, concierge, chef's or bartenders that make this place so unique......cause there are none!! And to my partner and I this was the beauty of the place.

For three nights we had the entire use of the resort facilites all to ourselves and with no other vistiors on the island , we were left to our own devices soaking up the rays by the amazing pool, listening to tunes from the mega stereo system, cooking up feasts on the BBQ and taking walks and drinking our morning coffee along the beach all without the intrusion of hired staff.

All bungalows are absoulte waterfront overlooking a very private beach and complete with hammock on the balcony. The rooms are modern and kept immaculate .

The condition of the resort really is a credit to residential caretakes (Paul and Merria) . For a resort that has been closed for a year the upkeep is second to none and of 5 star standard. From the manicured gardens and surrounds to the immaculate upkeep of the communal areas ,bungalows and the pool.

Paul and Merria also made us feel welcome with their relaxed, personal and professional manner. We felt right at home and at ease with cruising the resort . Paul was quick to redirect sighteers from neighbouring club croc, ensuring the privacy we had paid for. I doubt there is nothing these people do not know about island life in particular long island and they were happy to share their knowledge with us, giving us loads of tips about the island , native wildlife, fishing etc etc. These lovely people including Mark and Gail also joined us in a toast to help celebrate my partners 40th birthday.

We totally enjoyed our time on palm bay and would highly recommend it ..carnt wait to go back! For more info visit stayz website

“The Ultimate Wedding Destination! Get 5 star location at 2 star price!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

We will never forget the beauty of the location and the people that run this dream place! We were looking for something special for our wedding destination and the Palm Bay Resort was voted by EVERYONE of our guests as the best location they have ever been to for any holiday let alone our destination wedding location. The resort owners closed down the whole resort for us and our guests alone for a 3 day weekend so we had absolute privacy. As soon as any boats tried to land on our private beach that weren't from our party they were quickly turned away by Mary, Paul and Andy the caretakers. There is not words to describe just how amazing these people are! They treated us like family and made sure that our wedding was more than we could have dreamed of. Do not be concerned that the resort is no longer under the management of the Peppers chain. Mary and Paul have maintainted the place amazingly! We were a little worried that in the last 12 months the rooms may have become a little tired.. But... They are immaculately kept... the linen and fixtures are still perfect and Mary keeps the rooms cleaner than i thought could be possible for one person! The restaurant is closed (but this worked for us as i am a chef and preprepared much of the food the day before in the commercial kitchen there and simply hired a friend who is also a chef to cook on the day), we organised food (ordered online from coles and delivered to our ferry scamper) and alcohol (ordered over the phone by local bottleshop Magnums who also delivered to scamper free of charge) to be shipped over via the Scamper Whitsundays Boat (which we chartered privately to bring all of our guests, their luggage, food and alcohol supplies as well as our decorations for the wedding. Sandy from Scamper was absolutely lovely and very helpful (her number is 07 49466285) .. Paul collected it all from the boat on his beach buggy and packed it into their cold room before we had time to get off the boat and take in the beauty of the location. You can organise catering from the main land if you prefer not to cater for yourself... As there was a threat of rain on the day we decided to have our ceremony in the pavilion which is located on the beach... We had bought chinese lanterns, balinese flags and fresh lillies and freshwater pearls to decorate on the day... but... again Paul came to the rescue with white curtains draping from the roof throughout the pavilion and large palm fronds on the ground to create an aisle for us to walk up! We decided to have our meal in the old restaurant which over looks the pool area.. which is absolutely lovely... We were unsure what to expect so shipped a lot of linen, crokery and utensils up from Brisbane, but Mary and Paul let us feel like the whole place was at our disposal and allowed us to use all tablecloths, glasses, plates, cutlery so we ended up with a 5 star presentation on a very small budget. We and our guests stayed in a variety of different bures, bungalows and even a house... They are all lovely and vary in sizes... we had number 17 which is a large bure on the beach with a bedroom, seperate loungeroom with a partition from the bedroom and a private balcony for only $150 per night! Some of the guests stayed in the platinum residence with 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, large loungeroom and large kitchen with balconies on 2 sides with views over the bay, tennis courts and even the helipad for only $200 per night! This place was perfect for us as we wanted a small private wedding for 40 guests... it lends itself to it perfectly with the amazing location, rooms, gardens, pool area... but it is also is perfect for couples or small groups of friends wanting to escape for a quiet get away... We had difficulties working how to book this place, eventually I found Jonny on 0414566697 or her email nnqpc@qld.chariot.net.au. We also stumbled across an amazing fellow who chartered guests back and forth when there was only 2 -10 people traveling back and forth from hamilton or shute harbour to our resort.... Max bought our guests back and forth for a small fee of $125 per trip for everyone (even if there was 10 people on the boat). We also booked max to take 3 of us on a private day trip on one of his boats... he charged $300 for 3 people for a full day of snorkelling and touring around before we spent a couple of hours relaxing on whitehaven beach ... again private and lovely... Max was amazing (his number is 0413195351). This is not the location for you if you prefer the concierge, cleaners to tidy your room each day, waiters and waitress to take your food and cocktail orders... but if you want an amazing location with fabulous rooms, pool and lovely people and are willing to look after yourself this is ideal.. I prepared my guests before the wedding by describing it as "flash camping in beach bures" ...Long winded review i know... but I can't find the words to describe how much i loved this place and the people running it... our guests nicknamed it "fantasy island" as all are well traveled yet had not found something else in the past as lovely as this place. All of the guests are now wanting to return for the anniverary in one year...

Room Tip: Rooms 17 and 19 were fabulous if you want to step straight onto the beach .. the platinum residence...

“Still open and you can still get there”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

Although Peppers palm bay closed down in Feb after the cyclone the resort is still open for visitors and you can still go there if you know how to book. Check out Stayz.com.au.
Some owners are advertising their units for rent for as little as $100 per night. You will need to take all your own food and alcohol and you may be the only people on the island other than the caretaker but what a great cheap holiday and how often do you get a 5 star resort all to yourself.

Room Tip: take some nice food. Only BBQ to cook with. No TV's nor radios so take a book?

“Perfect Honeymoon destination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2011

My husband and I came here for the first week of our honeymoon and we absolutely loved it! we could have stayed here forever! I could rave about it forever!! we arrived via hellicopter from hamilton island airport on their private hellipad and got welcomed by one of the many friendly staff. Its such a remote location which just enhanced the honeymoon feel. The staff were so lovely and helpful and really personal too. The room we had was right on the beach and so comfy, clean and spacious - no phone, internet or television meant that we just speant time with each other which was amazing. The pool and spa were glorious and the food just amazing! we loved everything about our stay.
there is only space on the island for 16 couples which is so nice because you get to know some of the other couples staying there. Also no annoying kids or babies!
Theres so much to do from the island, seaplane adventure, boat trip, diving, snorkling etc or wakling to the other resort on long island which is about 20mins away where there is jetskiing. We didn't do anything tho and loved every minute of it! The only thing is to be aware of the stinger seasons as we didn't swim in the ocean at all beacause of this but you can just wear a stinger suit we just didnt feel like it.
I recomend this to everyone and definately want to go back there again!!
