“Great rooms....fantastic range of restaurants within 2 minute walk.....”

We stayed at the Quest on a Sunday night on our way to Cairns and found it to be a great place to stay. Staff at check-in were friendly and efficient, the room (a family room - one bed apartment and hotel room combined with connecting door) was large, clean and well appointed.

Only a few minutes walk up the road are a stack of restaurants of all different kinds, we had dinner at the Mexican place and enjoyed it immensely but a tip - don't sit outside if the mozzies like you! I got eaten alive until we moved inside.

Overall I would recommend Quest to anyone who wants a nice room, good value for money and great food close by.

“Spotless, well-equipped rooms; nice views toward marina.”

I stayed here for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was spotless and
was made up each day. The room included all amenities: sofa, mini-fridge,
big writing table, iron/board, microwave, and wide-screen TV. Balcony door
opened to nice view of yacht marina across the street (best view from upper
floors), and gorgeous sunrise if u get up that early. There are laundry facilities
on the 2nd floor. The surrounding area has some restaurants and a few other
hotels. Nice waterfront bar across the street at the yacht club (visitors are allowed). About a 10-minute walk to city center and grocery supermarket.
Some street pub noise at 2 AM on Friday/Sat. nights, but was not
excessive during my stay. The pool is tiny.

“Great Location, Needs updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

The Quest Hotel is in a great lcoation right in the center of town. The suites are a good size and very clean. However the rooms are very tired and so are the bathrooms, they need to do some upgrading. But i you are traveling through and only need one night not a bad deal for your money.

“In need of updating”

This was my second stay at the Quest although my Mum has stayed here many times over the years. The Quest has always been a solid performer in a town of limited options although I expect the Oaks properties have now given them a good run for their money. All rooms at the Quest have a balcony that faces east to an inlet complete with a small shipyard and picturesque moored yachts. The easterly aspect means the rooms get very hot from direct sun in the mornings and both stays I’ve had to give the air con a run in the morning even in winter. Sadly, the Quest has no ceiling fans at all – such a shame in the tropics. The one bedroom apartments have a small, dim, mildy depressing separate bedroom at the back of the apartment right on the walkway that runs along each floor. The bathroom has a shower over a spa bath so to shower you need to step up and over into the spa bath – not fun even for the sprightly. The kitchen has a full dishwasher, a convection microwave and two hotplates. The equipment doesn’t match the circumstances well – the provided frypan is so big that it obscures the second hotplate. Dining is basically a breakfast bar around the kitchen bench and the lounge has the worst sofa you’re likely to see in accommodation of this price (and these sofas have been there a long long time). Lighting is poor throughout. Reception gets the job done but no more. The whole show needs a makeover.

“Nice apartments, great location, helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2010

I had three nights at the quest in a one bedroom apartment. From the start, the staff were great, attentive to anything I wanted. The apartment was clean and had everything I could have hoped for. The location was excellent, a short walk into the main town area but at the doorstep of the best area in town for dining and nightlife. One issue, the internet, wireless came at an additional fee, hotels world wide privide wireless as part of their service as do moderate motels in Australia, but Australian chains seem to lag behind and go for that additional few dollars.
