We had a 3 night stay in the Crowne Plaza - Gold Tower wing in a 1 bed ocean view apatment with our 1 1/2 year old son and I was very impressed. It was wonderful to stay in an apartment (full kitchen and w/ machine) with full hotel services: 24 hr reception room service, free morning newspaper delivered to your door, porter, concierge, free parking, housekeeping services every day not weekly, and a very nice and clean pool (heated to 24deg in winter and spa). The bedroom was very spacious and quiet with a very comfortable king bed , large bathroom with spa and the room can an easily acommondate a 'port a cot' or two. I think the mattress off the sofa bed would also just fit in the bedroom. The lounge area had a large dining table and sofa bed, cable tv and on demand movies. The staff were all extremely courteous and prompt. The views were great and the room was very clean. Sunday buffet breakfast is in the revolving roof top restaurant and very tasty. The only negatives were that the sofa bed was sun faded and a bit saggy in the middle, the lounge furnishings not a luxurious as I hoped but still adaquate, and there was no DVD player available to play those toddler DVD's. The only real compromise between this hotel and staying in a top broadbeach apartment building (air on broadbeach, wave) for a similar winter/ low season rate is the location. It is on the highway half way between Surfers and Broadbeach. A twenty minute walk to either and 3 blocks to the beach. But their several nice restaurants inside or surrounding the hotel to eat dinner/ order take away.

First of all I will start with the only positive experience we had, the Executive Housekeeper, Addy. I work in a 5 star hotel in Sydney and know very well what 5 star customer service is and ADDY definitely displayed beyond this before we had even checked in. I had rang Housekeeping at 7pm the night before were to check in regarding my suit to be dry cleaned as I came from Sydney and needed it back the same night as we were leaving 4:30am the next morning. Addy was very helpful by going the extra mile to ring up the external dry cleaning company at 7 pm at night to confirm this was possible and then rang me back to confirm this. The day that we were meant to check in from 2pm but hadn’t as yet and it was about 4pm when I receive a phone call from Addy advising me that the suit has been returned to the room allocated for us. Addy is an asset to your company and she is to be praised for her amazing hospitality. NOW THE UGLY… So we check in at approximately 6pm and we are told we have been upgraded to 1918 which we were happy about. We get to the room and it smelt like the room has never had air pass through it. We wanted to have an early dinner as we waking up 3:30 the following morning to depart for Sydney so we rang the Revolving Restaurant on Level 26 where we were told first seating was 8pm. As my partner thought it would be amazing were made a reservation for that time. At 8pm we headed up there and we were shocked when we walked it and were to pay $80 per head for a buffet of this kind. Their food was like the food Hotel’s have in their staff restaurant for their employees actually WORSE food than that like hospital food or again WORSE. The look of the restaurant was just as bad as the service was terrible by the F&B Attendants, they all looked miserable with not even a smile or any kind of hospitable service expected. We were literally in there for 30 minutes maximum and left STARVING. We went back to our room and as I am smoker looked on the verandah to see an ashtray. I went to my bag to get my lighter but to my surprise I didn’t have a lighter so I decided to ring Reception to ask for matches. The lady at reception was the rudest thing by having attitude and stating ‘’ we don’t give matches as we are a smoke free hotel’’. How can they be a smoke free Hotel when they are supplying guest with ashtrays and certain areas are allocated to smokers. A smoke free Hotel would be a total ban of no smoking in any parts of the Hotel and definitely not supplying guest with ashtrays. The next morning I wake up at
3:30 and head straight for the shower. I turn the water and but to my surprise no hot water. I waited five minutes thinking it might take a little longer but NO. I call the night receptionist and he told me that there is no problem to his knowledge but he will send Engineering up. I told him not to worry as it was early in the morning and I needed to be gone in a hour. He also offered if I would like to use another shower in the Hotel to which I declined so I went ahead and had a cold shower. After I finished having my cold shower and I was putting my make up when I noticed a massive cockroach on the wall in the bathroom – THIS JUST MADE OUR EXPERIENCE MORE THAN JUST DISSPAOINTING. By the way when we checked out the Assistant Night Manager confirmed there was a problem with the hot water and in no was sincerely apologetic. NEVER AGAIN this is not a 5 star Hotel we probably would have had a better experience in a 4 star hotel.

This is a nice establishment. Good to stay, easily accessible and very clean. It offers some nice views if you are on the higher floors. Breakfast was neat and the property well managed. It may not be near surfer's paradise but only a few stops away by bus. It is about 10 min walk to the beach. Nice place to stay.

Stayed at the crown for one night in the holidays with two young children. We had a king spa corner unit on the 19th floor. Fantasitc views - would recommednd a corner unit to anyone. We had views of the beach font (a short walk away) from our lounge and from the balcony off the bedroom views up the highway to the Q1 tower and around to the river and hinterland. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Shower and spa had instant heat water with a set temperature dial- no need to mix and match your hot and cold taps. (Wish I had that at home!) Had no problems with noise coming from adjoining rooms. We also had the buffet breakfast deal which was scrumptious and the dinng room service was excellent. Check in and out was no fuss. My only complaint would be that at check in we weren't given information by the receptionist re eating facilities, where the pools were and info in the room was limited.
The hotel is on the border with Broadbeach, we drove to Cavill ave as it would be too far to walk with the kids. Beach access was close and plenty of food choices near by too.
Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay at Crowne Plaza in the Gold Tower. The room was spacious and had great views.

We had a nice big bathroom with a spa and there are some nice resort style facilities in the complex. Was probably a little further from the centre of town than we would have liked but it was a great stay none the less. We would definately return.
