“Friendly staff and great location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2011

Our family had a wonderful stay. The room was clean and spacious. All the staff were friendly and helpful especially the waitress in the restaurant. The breakfast menu was varied and the meals were huge. the only downsides were that the resort needs a bit of tlc and there was no air con in the lifts. Overall we had a great stay

Thanks for the review you posted at the beginning of last year.
Since your stay the resort has has a huge amount of 'TLC' as you put it and is now looking fantastic!
Our whole new team is also super friendly and willing to go out of their way to do anything necessary to ensure every guest who stays with us will be super happy!
Thanks

“Were told one thing, found another..very disappointing.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2010

I received a phone call from the resort manager two weeks before we left home and were told the resort having some troubles but was trading "business as usual" however when we got there, there were a number of things not as they were when we booked which we weren’t told about.
The children could no longer eat free on Tuesdays and Thursdays even though they could when we booked and we weren't told of this until we went to eat at the restaurant and had to ask about it.
There was no hotel information in our room and when I asked at reception if the room was being serviced I was told abruptly to refer to the "hotel information book in our room"??? Luckily a friend let me have a look at theirs.
When our room was "serviced" on day 5 they wouldn't replace an empty toilet roll and we had to purchase one from reception.
The bar was not serving alcohol, only soft drink and coffee.
The restaurant couldn't fry any food so the childrens menu was basically not available - not even a bowl of chips.
The business centre doesn't exist even though the hotel information said there was one next to reception so we couldn't check in for our return flights.
The website said there was an "attractions desk" in reception to help book theme parks, etc, however when we got there we could only get pamphlets and the desk didn't exist. Reception staff tried to help but couldn't confirm any information.
Kids club wasn't available "due to vandalism"
Toilets by the pool weren't available "due to vandalism" so we had to run to the lifts with our young children and hoped they made it.

All up, what was available to us when we got there was completely different to what we booked even though we were told everything was "business as usual".
Such a shame as it is in a great location and could really suit families looking for their dream QLD holiday. Pity our holiday wasn’t what it was supposed and reported to be.

I have tried to access the hotels website to send them this information however the website now only comes up with a blue screen.

Thank you for your review of your stay 2 years ago.
Paradise Island Resort has just been taken over by new management and I can assure you that you wouldn't have any of these problems if you stayed with us now.
My sympathy goes out to you and I hope your trip was totally ruined by your bad experiences.
Kind Regards,
Mark General Manager

“Great value for money, good food, friendly service, clean rooms.”

We had a week at the Resort and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The rooms are spacious and clean with good kitchen & laundry facilities. The restaurant only opens for breakfast and evening meals but the food was really good and the service very friendly. All of the staff were helpful, the Resort is managed by 2 sisters and they were efficient and welcoming. You can hire a car on site, this is easy and the rep is helpful. The pool and jacuzzi kept the kids entertained. We would definitely use the Resort again if we were in the area.

“Fantastic Accommodation and great for the kids”

We had a wonderful stay at Paradise Island Resort. The kids loved the kids play area and outdoor maze and games rooms. We went out to the Theme parks most days and it was great to come back to the resort and eat in the well priced restaurant. The staff are all great, and it is nice to see a well run family business. I have seen some of the reviews on trip advisor and was a bit dubious about coming to stay, but would like to say that I was plesenly supprised and would recomend this resort to all my family and friends. We look forward to coming back next year!

“Extremely disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2010

This trip was a surprise Christmas present for my husband, our 4 kids, aged 15, 13, 5 and 4, and my parents. As this was a surprise holiday, I needed things to be organised for our arrival as much as possible and therefore had made prior arrangements with an extremely helpful staff member of the resort, to have grocery items delivered to our room the day of our arrival. Upon our arrival (7.30pm) the girl at the front desk didn't know where we could park our hire car, nor could she direct us to our room. When we got into our room, I was disappointed to notice the arranged goods/groceries were not in our room as arranged. The BBQ facilities were not working due to an electrical problem, the kids play area was not accessible due to vandalism, as we were told, the air conditioner in our room only worked for 1 HOUR, before switching itself off and not restarting. I chose for my family to stay at this resort because of the facilities advertised on its website, not expecting that none of these, apart from the beautiful pool, would be accesible. The highlight of the resort would have to be the pool/spa area and the restaurants pizzas. I have since written to the resort expressing my disappointment, and received a generic letter back, offering me 2 free nights accommodation, with conditions of course (to be used within 12 months, not in conjunction with any other offer, not in holiday/peak times, and subject to availability). Unfortunately, we cannot afford, either financially and work wise, to travel there again to take their offer. My husband has also rang and left three (3) messages since the letter, and we are still waiting for their return phone call. A short family holiday break, a long time in organising and saving money for, was wasted. I was absolutely shattered with our whole experience at this resort.
