“What a surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

as with 220tasha, my sister who arrived from Darwin @ 6.00am was able to book into our rooms on arrival. Our interconnecting rooms were just fine. Although the kitchen isn't as stocked as mine there was ample, besides we ate in the restaurant a number of mornings and evenings. The food was great, value for money, friendly, attentive staff. It was nice to see mature staff in attendance. It's in an ideal spot, walking distance to Caville Ave, bus stops etc. The kids loved the pool area, a relaxing spot for all.
We will definately stay here again if at all possible.

Thanks very much for your review of your stay last year.
Paradise Island Resort has recently had a complete change of management and a completely new team of staff have come on board.
The restaurant is still going strong with absolutely fantastic meals at incredibly cheap prices! It really is a little gem.
The pool is still fantastic too- I think it's one of the best in Surfers Paradise!
Thanks again for your review and we look forward to you staying with us again in the future

“Fantastic, definitely staying again!”

We arrived early in the morning and thought we may have to come back later at check in time, but our room was ready and we were able to go straight up to our fourth floor room. (handy with a toddler after a very early morning and flight from Melbourne)
First impressions were great and thankfully stayed that way. I had read a few bad reviews and didn't want to have high expectations but i was pleasantly surprised!
Staff friendly and welcoming, very very clean, lovely breakfast in the restaurant, the staff were more than happy to accommodate our needs, they booked us our theme park tickets and organized our transfers there, although the bus company never received our booking so we ended up taking a taxi. The managers paid for our taxi fare and were very apologetic (even though it wasn't there fault)
Beautiful pool area, right next to the river. We stayed Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights and never had a problem with noise. Made us feel more secure with 24 hr reception.
Overall it was a great little get away, much much nicer than the other hotels right in the heart of surfers, but just a 5-10 minute walk to cavill ave and the beach.
Highly recommend.

“Better now under new management - but still not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

While this place used to be a nightmare under former management, after it went into receivership and was taken over the new owners are much more pleasant to deal with and actually make an attempt to maintain the place to a reasonably standard. It is getting a bit dated though and one of the lifts kept breaking down meaning we had to walk all the way around to the other side of the resort to go down; not fun.

The pool area is lovely, quite large and well kept. The gym is a bit of a weak attempt, but at least they have one and it's free to use if that's your thing.

Be wary if you are planning to stay there over the weekend if you are in an apartment facing the city of Surfers Paradise as Friday and Saturday nights have frequent echoes of yelling, swearing, and the usual drunken behaviour that carries over the canal.

Parking is free and secure, and the location itself is very central without being in the craziness of the heart of Surfers. You could do worse than staying here, but you could also do much better for the price.

Paradise Island Resort has just recently had a complete change of management and a completely new team of staff have come on board.
We have found that there really isn't much street noise (even at night) and certainly our location being 'tucked away' on the island keeps away most of the night-time noise.
You'll also see a whole new direction on pricing and I beleive that we are now one of the best value holiday complexes in Surfers Paradise.
Thanks again for your review.

“Would choose elsewhere next time”

I have been to many places, internationally and in Australia and have stayed at a range of star rating places and would have to say that Paradise Island resort is unfortunately the worse I have come across.
We travelled up to Surfers with two young children (6 and 9) and stayed at this resort. We were looking for a self contained apartment as with two children it is easier to be able to prepare things inside rather then eat out all the time.
The reception staff were ok but I felt a bit of an inconvience when asking the lady where things were (as she did not explain when we arrived). We had a look around and could not find the BBQ's mentioned, thinking they would be around the Pool area but they are around the opposite site of the resort. We went to see the Pool area, the playground was dirty and covered in spiders (which was a shame as good playground), which we later asked about and was told it was closed for maintanence, the kids play room was also locked and was told it just some small things like 'girls kitchen play things'. We got up to the 2 bedroom apartment and it is one main door which opens up to two seperate apartment rooms (too bad if you have little ones) as if the kids closed their main door, we needed a key to get into it. The kids also had a study like apartment with their own bathroom and we had a one bedroom apartment connected with kitchen and laundry and own bathroom, and the kids had a bigger TV then us which my partner was not happy with haha. Walked into the laundry/bathroom and there was sand all over the floor and a big pile in the corner, obviously it was not vaccumed at all!!!! Utensils in apartments is bare minimum. No tongs which made it hard when we cooking a BBQ, no chopping boards which made it hard when making lunches to take to theme parks, things that I find essentials in a kitchen. The dishwasher also leaked, the dryer smelt like something was burning when I turned it on for 2 mins before rushing back to turn it off. The Queen bed we were told we had in our room was two single beds pushed together, very uncomfortable with a gap down the middle of the bed. And last but not least, our 6 year old girl yelled out to Dad to come see what was under her bed because the kids didnt know what it was and he went in and found ladies undies under her single bed, disgusting! The beds are obviously not moved for cleaning! This hotel needs to pay much more attention to detail with cleaning. Makes you wonder if these things aren't done what else isnt cleaned. I will not be returning to this hotel again.

Thanks very much for your review of your stay all that time ago.
There were many problems with the complex way back then which have since been rectified. We plan to continue to improve Paradise Island Resort even further into the future under our management so we know that you wouldn't have these issues should you stay with us again.
Thanks again for your review.
