We were disppointed with our very cramped room that had one very small window by the door, so very dark and clostrophobic. It also backed onto the main road so noise from the heavy trucks (even through the wall).

Very few eating places within walking distance (other than fast food joints)

We travelled as a group of 9, aged 4 to 81. The 2 family rooms we booked were perfect for our needs. These rooms are spacious, each with a queen bed and 3 singles, a sofa, table with 4 chairs (just about unheard of in motels!!), desk, another bench for kettle & toaster etc and still room for the kids to play on the floor. The rooms were clean, especially the bathroom. The manager was extremely helpful & friendly and the office has great hours (7.30am-9pm). The pool was a good size and there is a laundry with pay washing machine & dryer which was great to get swimming towels dry before our early start the next morning.

My parents and sister hoped to stay there the other night, but were refused accomodation because my sister, who is hearing impaired, had her hearing dog with her. Hearing dogs are covered under the Guide Dogs Act of 1972, and it is an offence to "deny accomodation or service in or on that place or vehicle to a blind or deaf person accompanied by a guide dog". This was a shock to them all, especially considering that this place advertises one room for people with disabilities. Apparently you have to have the right kind of disability.

So if you have a guide dog of any kind, avoid this place. And if you're as appalled as I am, please e-mail the owners and let them know.

We chose this motel mainly for its location close to the railway station and thought it was good value for money. It is within a km of the station so we were able to wlak with our trolley cases as hoped. The unit was clean adn tidy and the standard we expected for the price. It was well away from the road so no traffic noise. The 'room service' meal was ok, delivered on time and a useful service as we arrived late and didn't went to go out again. The manager was very helpful with local knowledge and sightseeing info. We would probably go back there if returning to Rockhampton.
