“Look elsewhere. Motel 98 a good start”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Arrived to no air cond, saying a tech is coming, through to a 70 minute wait for a single main meal blamed on a broken microwave. What part of my pork cutlet, Asian greens and rice noodle was from a microwave?. Assume Asian greens as never arrived (which they still charged me for, well tried). Rock hard bed, shocking pellows, crap, crap and more crap. Go elsewhere, do not stay here. There is a reason it is cheap. And this for a large corporate account for this hotel!

“Keep driving...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

From our initial contact with the most unhelpful front-desk person to the worlds worst breakfast, you could not pay me enough to stay at this hotel again.
At 9:30 on a Wednesday night there was no "standby" rate available but we were lucky to be here this week because next week all the room rates will be $100 more...good luck with getting people to stay with those prices!! There was no assistance provided to help with our luggage and the directions for parking were a vague wave of the arm in a general direction - WHERE'S YOUR DISABLED PARKING????
So we got our own bags up to our room which obviously hadn't been used for a while because it was very musty smelling and attempted to find a light...not as easy as it sounds especially when half of them didn't work!! I have to say though that the bed wasn't too bad - luckily I brought my own pillow!!
And then we get onto breakfast...what was out looked and indeed turned out to be less than average. "Is the coffee real or instant?" "Ummmm instant is the granules right?" Really couldn't go any further with that sort of knowledge from the staff... "Can I get some fried eggs over easy?" "Ummmm sure...." Fairly sure the person cooking them had to go find a chicken, wait for them to lay the eggs and then proceed to fry them because they had no idea what over easy was...
I would have to consider sacking all the staff that we have had the misfortune of dealing with here because not one of them appeared to be happy to help their customers. Any request or question seemed to be an inconvenience and if they had smiled their faces would have cracked!!
So all in all if I could give them a negative score I would but I will just have to stick with a zero which is more than they deserve!!!

“Clean and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

We stayed here on the homeward leg of our 2-week holiday to South East Queensland. The rooms were neat and tidy, the staff were all friendly and happy to help and the meals were great. I'd recommend this facility to other travellers.

“Very noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

Stayed here for 1 night on the way up the east coast. Paid a little extra for a room with a balcony and a view of the river. View is very overrated as we were looking sown on the roof of another building. No noise-proofing whatsoever:could clearly hear the lift operating all thru the night. The next morning, road-works began at 7am-no need for an alarm clock.
Not much to do in general in rockhampton so location doesn't really come into the equation.
