“nice, clean, friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2010

We stayed one night at this motel on our way up north to Cairns. If you are driving through and need a rest, this motel is a good option. - If you are a light sleeper - ask for a room further away from the main street. The motel is ery clean and very well kept. The friendly owners are doing a great job here. We also had a very good dinner at their restaurant.

“Home away from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2010

I stay at the Cattle City on a regular basis through work and I find that the rooms and service are the best I have ever come across in all my years of staying in motels.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, great food, my home away from home

“Would have to be the friendliest place I have ever stayed at”

Stayed at the Cattle City on route to Airlie for a holiday. We were greeted by Kathy & Peter like long lost friends. They couldn't have be more helpful and welcoming. Their rooms were very clean & comfortable. Peter was especially proud of the new flat screen TV's they had just installed. Food in the restaurant was great along with great service from, you guessed it, Kathy & Peter. All in all I would say this was my best motel experience .......ever.

“Very clean , but basic.”

This is a motel and therefore, suitable for a stop over. Our room was behind the reception and restaurant so we were not bothered by the noise of the Bruce Highway, however, I can see this would be an issue if you were accomodated in the other part of the motel. Room was semi dated but extremely clean, cleanest motel I think I have stayed at, with good size bathroom. Mini bar and ample room for suitecases was a bonus. Restaurant was nice , food average but welcomed after a long day. However, the restuarant is overpriced. If I was travelling through Rocky and needed a stop over motel I would consider this again. The Managers were very friendly.

“Good Place”

Not a bad overnight stop. On the Bruce Hwy so a bit noisy. I've learnt so opted for a deluxe suite at the very back of the complex. It had lush garden surrounding the room which helped keep the noise down.

Must note here: cleanliness of the room was exceptional. I was very impressed. They must have great cleaning staff; and they know how to make a bed!

Older motel but rooms have been updated: new lamps, bathroom fittings; furniture. Queen size bed was ok but I've slept in more comfortable ones. Curtains could have been updated and they wouldn't have cost much, I imagine.

Check in was smooth and friendly - no complaints.

We ate at restaurant. Food was good but a bit pricey (about $25 - $30 per main : which in my book are city prices). Oh, kitchen stops cooking about 8pm and this was a Friday so beware.

Parking was good. They offer corporate discount too which took about $10 off room rate. Don't think $99 is the price when you see the average price of $99 on this site. That's the AVERAGE. I think we paid about $125 with a discount. I think normally it was about $130 for the deluxe suite (it was a Friday though so may incur a surcharge).

Not the flashiest place; not that cheapest; but a good rest stop on coast drive. Give it a go!
