Our family of four stayed in a two bedroom unit for a week in November 2011 and absolutely loved it. There was plenty of room to spread out and the balcony overlooked the beautiful pool and garden area. Very clean with all the amenities you could need including a washer/dryer, great kitchen items and large closet space. Amanda went over and above arranging airport transfers and tours and answering the many questions we had on the area and activities. The breakfast was cereal, milk, coffee, tea, juice, toasts and jams always clean and well stocked and Amanda even bought a loaf of gluten free bread for our daughter who is gluten intolerant. Incredible value in a quiet location. We would return in a heartbeat.

I stayed in a double bedroom apartment at the sands resort and thought it was a great place to stay. Rooms were fantastic and the people working at the hotel were great, they organized all our activities and recommended restaurants, bars which we enjoyed very much. Loved the swimming pool especially when we couldn't swim in the sea due to the stingers!!

We really enjoyed our stay at this resort and it was good value for money. We took advantage of a special offer (stay for 5 nights - pay for 4). Then we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment foc and also allowed a later check out (11am). A continental breakfast was included in the price, in a room under reception and close to the pool. Even though the resort is just off Port Douglas road we didn't find the traffic too noisy and it didn't disturb out sleep. The gardens were tidy and the whole complex is enclosed and secure.(swipe cards for gates and car park). Pool and spa was kept clean and water temp lovely. There is a shallow wading area for kids with a sandpit. Room was starting to show some signs of age, but on the whole it was clean and more than adequate. Bed was comfy. Its possible to walk to the beach via a pathway through the Sheraton Mirage resort opposite - take about 10mins.

Stayed here for 4 days, wish I had booked for longer. We were upgraded to a 2 bed apartment but asked to use just 1 room. The apartment was very spacious and well equipped with crockery and cutlery etc and a large fridge that would be great for a family. Everywhere was kept very clean (though no cleaning done in the apartment while you are there). It was good to have a washer and dryer too.
We had continental breakfast included which was sufficient, cereal and toast/jams and usual beverages. The lady was always tidying and refilling so nothing ran out.
Didn't use the pool area but again, it was kept very clean.
Reception staff were very helpful and booked various trips for us.
Only minus was that there is no air con in the bedroom, just a noisy fan which kept you awake if left on, but I am a very light sleeper.Bed was comfy with good quality bedlinen.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay at this hotel.
