“Wonderful family holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2009

Titree was an excellent place for two families to relax. The kids chose to spend more time in the pool than going to the beach, but with the beach only 200m away and a lot quieter than near the centre of Port Douglas we were spoilt for choice. Our back to back apartments had great facilities and made our holiday one to remember.

“Great Family Location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2008

We have just returned from a few days at the Ti-tree resort in Port Douglas, Qld. The resort is a mixture of permanent accomodation and some rental units in a medium sized complex with great pool. The front desk/ reception manager was extremely efficient, friendly and full of information. Her family is roughly the same size and age as ours and so gave us advice on the best kid friendly activities to explore. The resort is not on the famous 4 mile beach. But it is a very easy 4 minute stroll away. This was actually an advantage in retrospect as many of the resorts that claim to be near the beach require long round-about walks and crossing very busy roads - not good for kids with "floaties".

Port Douglas is great but expensive for US travellers. Restaurants are approximately double what you would expect to pay in California. However we found excellent and reasonable food at two places - the one is a take-out called 4 Mile Fish on Barrier rd directly opposite the Ti-tree. We had excellent seafood and burgers there. Then we walked down to a restaurant on Barrier called the Beach Shack and had dinner that was great for both kids and parents.

Port Douglas is about beaches and Rain forests - we did both. The beach is fantastic but not good for body surfers - there are virtually no waves as the beach is flat for hundreds of meters out to sea. The kids floated over 100 m out and the water was still waist depth - water temps are fine in winter. We had a rental car and so drove up to Mossman River Gorge a national park with an amazing waterhole that the kids and some other crazy people swam in - the water is COLD! in Aussie winters! The gorge has a 2 km circular walk that we took. This is an easy drive, free and is a great break from the beach and shopping environment of Port Douglas. Speaking of shopping, we looked at a bunch of stuff but with the weak US dollar and high Aussie prices bought nothing!

We paid around $170 per night for a 2 bedroom unit including a roll-away mattress - typically the unit sleeps four. The units have a funcitonal kitchen, nice size dining and living area, and bathroom all on the ground floor and then two bedrooms with large bathroom and full laundry facilities upstairs. Perfect for family living.

Overall I would say this is a great choice for a visit to Port Douglas.

“Superb location; functional accomodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2007

My husband, my teenage daughter and I spent 5 nights at the Ti-Tree Resort at the end of July. The rates were quite cheap (900 AusD for 5 nights) considering the spacious accomodation. We had 2 separate bedrooms (one double bed and one with twin beds) and a bathroom + toilet upstairs plus plenty of cupboard space. In the bathroom, there was a washing machine and a drier. Downstairs, a large lounge/dining area with a small but functional kitchenette with microwave and oven. There was also a small patio with table and chairs. Although we didn't use them during our stay (which was much too short!), the resort has a barbecue area and a pool. The accomodation is not luxurious but comfortable, functional and clean. We were particularly impressed with Georgie, the on-site manager. She was very helpful and friendly, helping us to book very enjoyable tours. The first night we spent at the Ti-Tree was not particularly pleasant because of our extremely noisy neighbours who prevented everyone from sleeping between 2.30 and 4 am. I went to ask Georgie if we could move to a different unit the next morning when I found out that she'd asked them to leave. Noisy neighbours could have ruined our stay there because we wanted to get up early to make the most of each day (night falls around 6 pm at this time of year) so we really appreciated the way she dealt with the problem. The Resort is a 5-minute walk from the beautiful 4-Mile beach (which was always almost empty even though it was high season). It's situated outside the town of Port Douglas, contrary to the majority of other resorts, which might be considered as a disadvantage by some.
So, all in all, a great holiday in a wonderful place and we'd definitely stay at the Ti-Tree again if we go back (which I really hope we do!).

“Value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2007

Simply value for money. If you pay more, they have a nicer room which designed by interior designer and if you pay less you get standard room. However managers and her family of resort are very friendly and helpful. When we stayed there, AC was broken and bubble bath was broken, internet was broken, and grill of oven was broken as well ! And took long time to fix it. But I think it is nothing to do with management, the trade people in PD takes long time as they are very shortage of skilled people...
