I checked into a one bedroom apartment at the Trilogy Resort, planning to stay a week. Checked out the next morning and went to the Hilton.

Internet access from the apartments is very expensive, and did not work well at all - it was very slow, far too slow to do any kind of business work (email). The staff at the front desk could not do anything about it because internet is provided by a third party contractor. I called the contractor, they tried their best to get it working but it still didn't work the next morning. No offer of a refund for the $60 I paid for 3 days of use.

The apartment itself was unimpressive - old furniture, not much decor, noisy teenagers in the suite next door, and it sounded like a train crash whenever anyone dumped trash down the refuse chute (which was right beside my room).

Overall, unimpressive, I would not go back there again.

Stayed here unexpectedly for 1 night after escaping from a hellish stay up in the Daintree. We arrived late and were given a fantastic double room with a stunning bathroom (HUGE shower), very modern, large balcony overlooking the main strip, comfortable bed and good tea/coffee offerings.

Didn't experience much else apart from the room but it was faultless.

Location is unbeatable; 30 second walk to the main shops, restaurants and nightlife of Cairns.

We stayed in the 3 bedroom penthouse apartment 2 weeks ago. The location, view and the apartment itself was fantastic, however we had far to many problems to justify the price. The oven and the microwave did not work. We had to request 8 keys during the week we stayed there as they would not work. At one stage we were locked out of our room at 11pm with a 2 year old and a 7 week old baby. We requested a cot for the 7 week old baby. We were given a portacot with holes in the sides. All of this would have been annoying but worst of wall was when we were woken at 4am to find a drunk man that we did not know standing in our bedroom. Reception had given him a key to our room. When my husband went down to reception to find out how this could have happened the best they could do was apologise and offer free breakfast vouchers. Considering this significant safety breach I could never stay there again.

Waking up to dawn over the coral sea, a leisurely breakfast on the verandah before heading off to take in the attractions of tropical north Queensland seems idyllic - and it was. 2 couples and a teenager got a special offer of 5 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment (separate keys) for AUD$1000. The apartment was everything you'd expect, clean, comfortable, nicely furnished with all conveniences including washing machine and dryer. The Mantra Trilogy is right on the Cairns Esplanade so guests are right in the heart of the tourist area. Restaurants of all types and prices are within easy walking distance. Free , secure undercover parking is also provided and the swimming pool was so refreshing. Excellent value. The only downside was no internet access (or provided at $7 a day). When will accommodation providers realise that free wifi or internet access is almost an essential item for today's travelers. A lack of kitchen knives was the only other criticism. Highly recommended and would definitely stay there again.
