We stayed at the Balinese before and after a Great Barrier reef trip. It was an excellent choice. The beds were comfortable and the rooms nicely if plainly decorated. It was about a fifteen minute walk to the main restaurants and shops in Cairns. The staff was uniformly friendly. They let you leave your big bags while on the reef for free. The free breakfast and internet were very welcome. The only thing I regretted was the absence of screens on the glass doors, so you had to run the a/c all night. But I would definitely stay here again.

great place to stay and we were very happy that we found this place, close to town and 2 minutes from the esplande, clean rooms with indonesian style furniture, free breakfast and airport transfer can t beat it for that price it was perfect for us.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel in a room on the ground floor. The rooms are decorated in Asian style and were a positive surprise at the low price we paid: clean, quite big and quiet. I suppose the good relation is possible because there is almost no staff: You can make and clean up your own breakfast, everything you need like coffee, juice, eggs , dishes etc. is provided. When you arrive you find the door of your room open, the key is inside.
The area: is 10-15 minutes walking from the center (resudential area but not beautiful, beautiful). We checked out other hotels in the center and found that they were either more run-down or much more expensive then the Balinese.
If you like Asian food: the sister-hotel next door has a Thai restaurant which is authentic and excellent (not cheap).
The nicest and most relaxing part of the hotel is the mini-garden in the breakfast area (with micro-water fall). We would definitely come back to this hotel.

Great friendly staff. Excellent price at $100 with bfast with free airport transfers. I was just here for overnight and could not ask for more. Central to Esplanade ...great walkingtrack. oh yeah free internet too!
