“Unit 42”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

The Aquarius resort is perfectly located in Cairns, right next door to the city but in a slightly quieter corner of the Esplanade. Everything is in with easy reach without feeling that you're in the middle of the tourist zone. Cairns is hot so much of our time there was spent either in the Lagoon, at nearby gorges or in the Aquarius pool, which we basically had to ourselves. There are too pools on site. We stayed in unit 42, which has been recently refurbished and has great views out over the bay, the balcony is out of the afternoon sun, which makes it ideal for a few drinks before dinner to cool down. The staff at Aquarius were generally very helpful making it a really nice place from which to enjoy Cairns and the nearby Northern Queensland hot spots.

Room Tip: We would recommend unit 42 - on the 7th floor. Great views and nice and quiet.

Thank you for taking the time to write a Trip Advisor review.
Several guests who have also stayed in newly renovated apartment 42 have made similar positive comment.
As our previous reviewer aptly put it "what's not lo like".
All of our Premium apartments feature huge living and entertainment areas. A very modern and functional kitchen, which is fully equiped with all the plates, cups, curtlery, cooking utensils, oven, hotplate and microwave you would find in your own home. Fully air conditioned throughout, with, large comfortable bedrooms that offer complete privacy and separate bathrooms and toilets. Pus, more cupboard space than you could ever use. When did you last stay somewhere that allowed enough cupboard and shelf space for you to easily put all of your things away?
All of this and located right in the heart of the City on the waterfront with magnificent 180 degree ocean views.... next door to five of the best seafood and Italian restaurants in Queensland.
If you are coming to Cairns, enjoy the Aquarius experience. We promise that you will enjoy every moment of your stay.

“There was nothing not to like!”

I will keep it simple as I am sure everything has been said before. Myself and family stayed in a two bedroom apartment over xmas 2011 for a few days. The place is ideally situated on the main promenade right on the waterfront, so fantastic waterfront views from the big balcony, air conditioning in all of the rooms, clean, all facilities you could need were available in the kitchen and utility room, everything worked and there was parking underneath the building.

There was no receptionist on when we arrived on Christmas day (night), but our keys were left in a safe by the entrance and we were emailed the code in advance - so all went smoothly. On departure (10am checkout) there was no baggage store - but they were happy for us to keep a room key and leave our baggage in the room until our early afternoon flight times, so all good! Bookings and payments were handled seamlessly and faultlessly via the internet, so I have nothing to complain about :-)

Our thanks to "itIsWotitis" for taking the time to send in a review. Your contribution is very much appreciated. I hope that you and your family had a comfortable flight home.

No doubt you will now be enjoying an English winter and reminising on you North Queensland adventure. If it all gets too much we would love to see you back enjoying the views from your balcony at Cairns Aquarius.

Best regards from Don and Annette

“Excellent location, beautiful apartment”

Went for a 10 day australia vaccation. Did the typical toruist circuit - Sydney, Gold Coast and Cairns.
Cairns Aquarius was one of the best places we stayed in Australia. The apartment is as beautiful and spacious as pictures indicate. We were staying in apartment number 22.

Loved the view of the esplanade from the wide open balcony and the New year fireworks. Could walk down the shopping street at any time.

The manager also helped me with washing powder as we wanted to do laundry.

Thank you SmartSparkles for taking time to do a review.
I recall that you and your family stayed in apartment 22. A lovely, fully refurbished apartment on level 4. As you point out, the ocean views are spectacular and to have the New Years fireworks right outside your balcony on New Years is such a special treat for all of us at Cairns Aquarius.
Annette and myself are so pleased that you enjoyed staying with us and we were able to contribute to your wonderful holiday experience.
We hope to see you back again.

“Best views in Cairns”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My family stayed in the Cairns Aquarius during Christmas and New year, and had a wonderful holiday.
This is not a hotel where there is reception and room service. It is an apartment building where the managers live onsite and are available if required. When you arrive you have the code for the safe located outside the main doors, you get your keys and info and can gain entry via the main doors or the car park roller door at the back of the building. Only people staying in the building can gain access to the building. We enjoyed the independence and security that the Cairns Aquarius afforded. The views are amazing and it is by far the best location on the esplanade.
The apartment was huge with 2 comforable bedrooms, great kitchen and bathroom. Huge TV in the lounge room and another in the main bedroom. The large balcony looked straight out onto the ocean. There is always something to look at, reef boats and the occasional cruise ship.We recommend taking a pair of binoculars. At sunset each evening the flying foxes (bats) fly past the building on their way south. Some fly quite close to the building. It is a unique sight. The Lobby is a refreshing air conditioned haven after walking in the summer heat.

Watching the New Years Eve fireworks from the balcony on the 7th floor with family that live locally was such a memorable event, one that we will never forget and a fitting finale to our stay.
We would not hesitate to recommend the Cairns Aquarius and look forward to having many more holidays here.

Thank you so much Liz H for taking the time to send in your outstanding review.
You tell it exactly as it is. Cairns Aquarius is indeed the best locarion and value on the Esplanade. Given the location, amazing views and miriad activity along the waterfront, binoculars would be a great asset.
I look forward to seeing you and your family here again for another great holiday.

“Enjoyable Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My wife and I have just returned from a fantastic Christmas, New Year holiday in Cairns. Our second stay at Cairns Aquarius which we both enjoyed very much. Lots of sightseeing and dinning out at the numerous restaurants along the waterfront. Bit hot this time of year but the fully air conditioned apartment was always a good refuge and very comfortable.
We read the review from "lucygertrudis" and feel obliged to say that we stayed in the building through the same period and experienced no bad smell in the lift or anywhere else. On the contrary everything was very clean and it was a pleasure to spend time there. To call the building ugly is simply ridiculous. I have attached some photos of the front of the building and the entry which I took to send with this email. It's an apartment building not a hotel and a very lovely apartment building.
We will certainly be back.
