Stayed here on my way down from Cape trib to Cairns.
Dead quiet. I think I was the only one - i was in a budget cabin, I think there was one family in one of the beachfront bungalows (which hav ea view right onto the beach)
The share bathroom/shower/toilets were awesome! So cleannnn and large :) haha... so used to staying in hostels were I'm afraid of going to the bathroom. Might have helped that I was the only one (probably) using them!
The budget cabin was good.. a bit expensive for a solo traveller - it can accommodate up to 5 - a triple bunk + a double bed. (own kitchen + fridge.. :) ... + a tv.. that was a bit high for my neck.. haha.. but nice anyway!)

We stayed here for three nights and used it as a base for travel around the Cairns/Port Douglas area. It is well situated, about a 30 minute drive from either Cairns or Port Douglas, and well positioned for those who might want to spend a day up in Cape Tribulation as well. The bungalow we stayed in has been recently renovated and was very clean and well kept. The view was gorgeous and only a few meters from a long stretch of sandy beach. The deck overlooks the ocean and the view and atmosphere are very relaxing. The staff were helpful and friendly. A good spot for a romantic stay, and "great value" as the locals would say!

We stayed at the Ellis Beach Bungalows in October 2009 for two nights. My sister-in-law got married on the beach so it was the perfect location. The bungalow we stayed in was good value for the price we were paying. It is very basic so don't expect anything spectacular but I firmly believe that you stay here for the secluded beach. We had a great time and I would definitely stay there again. There is a restaurant near by or you can drive to the nearby shopping centre and cook your meals. Palm Cove (with many dining options is a few minutes away). It's a very relaxing location, we were happy with our stay and sad to leave.

This was my second trip to Ellis Beach, we stayed here about 4 years ago and in that time I have to say the quality of the bungalows has deteriorated. They could really do with a bit of TLC and cleaning. The bedding and towels and kitchen equipment was faultless and very clean, its just the walls and floors especially in the shower are that really need sprucing up.

Having said that, it didn't stop us having the best time ever. The location is absolutely perfect, the beach is literally a stones throw away and it is a really beautiful beach. You can reach all the top places to visit easily in a day, in fact I think we were home most days by 4pm..........ready to stroll down to the netted area with surf life guard to swim in the wonderfully warm coral sea. We didn't need to contact the owners at all during our stay, mainly because we knew the area...........last time they did everything they could to make us welcome and I'm sure that hasn't changed. They arranged the car hire for us and that was perfect too.

There is a shopping mall nearby and a bigger one further on at Smithfield which are both excellent for stocking up and shopping.........I think we went into Smithfield nearly every day.
