“Out of town, great pools, big units”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2009

We stayed at this resort for one week during December 2008. Trinity Links is located 5-10 minutes outside of town, so a car is a must.

The complex has 192 apartments divided into two ‘halves’ (built 8 and 10 years ago). The apartments are variably owner-occupied, let out for holiday rentals or owned by the Worldmark timeshare group (for use by their members). As a result, the facilities in each apartment can vary widely.

Each ‘half’ of Trinity Links has 6 apartment blocks, each with 6-12 apartments over 3 levels. If you’ve got kids, definitely get a ground-floor apartment that backs onto the pool – just walk through a gate and you’re in the water! The pools are slightly different in each ‘half’ of Trinity Links, and guests are welcome to use both pools.

Apartments have plenty of air conditioning and ceiling fans (very important during the summer months!) and the grounds are very well maintained. Our unit was well presented, so the cleaning is good, but as mentioned the actual contents of apartments may vary. Ask for a recently renovated unit for a better quality stay.

Parking is provided (I think two spots per apartment, with one spot undercover). No Internet available.

“Absolute Disaster”

After 2 years of hard saving and budgeting my partner and i were so excited about booking our holiday in Cairns, staying at Trinity Links Resort. Regardless of the amount of research we did, nothing could come close to what we experienced during our stay.

From the moment we arrived in Cairns, bells started ringing as to what a mistake we have made. On phoning the resort, when we arrived at Cairns Airport, i was greeted to a cheery greeting from Melissa on the telephone. I asked her if the resort offered an airport pick up service only for her attitude to take a full turnaround. She quickly replied by asking if i knew what the cost of operating airport transfers would be if she offered such a service and then went on, without being asked, to tell me where where i had to walk in order to catch a taxi, before she promptly hung up the phone.

I spoke to a friendly gentleman at the shuttle transfers desk and he arranged for transport for us both to Trinity Links for a nominal fee. He was great and gave us an amusing mini tour on our way to the resort.

On arrival, already upset by the telephone service, we held our breath and hoped that maybe melissa had just had some bad news or something to make her as unwelcomming as she was over the phone shortly before. Upon arriving at the unattended check-in counter there was an older lady sitting in a back room talking loudly on the telephone which seemed to be of personal nature regarding the weekends plans. She glanced at us a number of times before saying to her caller that she 'had' to go because there was someone at the desk as if it was all too much trouble with her.

We got rapidly checked in, told where our room was and given a key. She promptly returned to her office in the back went back to her telephone call of which she must huve only put on hold.

After 10 mins of walking around we finally found our room. The room had a very strong damp and musty smell to it. The bedroom carpets were stained. Bedspread looked as if it hadnt been washed in years, the kitchen benches still had crumbs and food over it from past guests and the bathroom had evidence of use without cleaning in both the shower and toilet.

We returned to the reception desk only to be ignored again for a further 5 mins. When we finally received some service we asked immediately to speak with the manager to shich she replied her name was melissa and she was the manager. We began to explain the faults we had with our room and were quickly shut down by her and she insisted it wasnt as bad as we were saying and that she would have to get a housekeeper back to our room to clean it again. The worst of it being that she said that if the housekeeper states that the room was clean to their standards, then we would incur the charge for an additional clean.

Instead of getting angry and giving melissa the benefit of the doubt, i decided to let her apalling service not get to me and ask her to advise us of something we could do for the afternoon. She promptly replied that she didnt really know what we would like to do and we were better off catching a taxi back into the city and speak to a tour booking office there who could arrange anything we wanted.

Thank you to the young guy in the Reef Information Centre on the Esplanade, he managed to save our holiday from certain destruction had we needed to deal with melissa once again.

He booked us on the most enjoyable trips for the remainder of our holiday, advised us on things to do in the area, arranged a hire car and best of all... managed to find us alternate accommodation at a much friendlier, cleaner and amazing property for which we owe our sincerest gratitude to for arranging such a good price for us after our money wasted at Trinity Links Resort.

I would only recommend this property to those who dont care about cleanliness or service at all, and being in the worst location possible. I dont know how they can say they are in Cairns, when they are clearly well out of the city and in the suburbs.

I am disgusted in Trinity Links Resort and Melissa for such revolting service. For a tourism based city they should be appalled in employing such a person and placing them into any form of management position anywhere.

Dear Potential / Future Guests,

As the new Manager of Trinity Links Resort & Apartments I personally wish to give my sincerest of apologies for the way that this guest was treated (Comment Feb 16, 2008).

Milisa (the previous Manager of Trinity Links) no longer works or resides here at Trinity Links. It was very disheartening reading this review as this is not our attitude here at Trinity Links at all.

We have full tour booking facilities in our office, which our staff are more than happy to help with and pride ourselves with having local knowledge.

We know how important it is to receive not only good service, but honest service while enjoying your holiday.

I feel our approach to our guests is of a high standard and we hope that this review does not reflect on the current scenarios here at Trinity Links Resort & Apartments.

Once again, i would like to stress that current staff have a positive and professional manner and apologize for any negative past experiences.

"...Our aim is to ensure that your stay with us is as comfortable as possible. Our friendly staff are eager to make your holiday experience both an enjoyable and memorable one..."

“Home away from home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2005

My husband, daughter and parents have just come home from a week in Cairns where we stayed at the Trinity Links Appartments. On entering the resort we were looked after personally by the onsite manager who was expecting us and made sure we knew everything we needed to know. She took us to our unit and insisted on carrying some of the luggage. We walked into the large three bedroomunit and were taken with how spacious and well appointed it was. The main had a king size bed with an ensuite, air conditioner, television and sliding doors onto a large balcony. Of the other two bedrooms, one had a queen bed and the other two singles. Each of these had air conditioners as well. The bathroom that these rooms shared was quite large. There was also a laundry with washing machine and dryer, so we could keep up with the washing even on holidays. The kitchen was fully equipped so you could cook as much as you liked. There was no restuarant onsite so if you wanted to eat out of the room you either cooked a barbeque down in the pool area or went into town.

One disadvantage of this resort is that it is so far away from the main part of town. It cost about $13-$15 in a taxi to get to town or esplanade where all the action was. There is a hotel bus that picks up and drops off at certain times of the day for $4 an adult or $2 a child. Things were easier for us after we hired a car for the remainder of our time.

The gardens and swimming pools were absolutely beautiful. Something for everyone. We all kept wishing we had a garden and/or pool like that at home. Plenty of shallow area in the shade for young children or those who just wanted to lay in the water. Waterfalls over rocks gave a constant sound of water as you relaxed on the lounges.

We certainly enjoyed our time at Trinity Links and would go again.
