Brilliant property.
The hospitality was so nice. The rooms were big, clean and beautiful.
The view from rooms of the esplanade was just mind blowing.
The location of the hotel is good too.
To sum it up it was brilliant.

Nice, spacious, clean hotel at a reasonable price. Centrally located withing easy walking distance of the shops, restaraunts and Quay where most of the local Barrier Reef trips depart from. Lovely ocean view room with balcony looking over the esplanade and sea.

We only ate in the hotel once for the buffet breakfast which was average and lacking in choice a little.

Staff were fantastic, from the receptionist rushing out to help us with our bags and check in porocess, to the hugely helpful tour desk lady, the bar staff and the girl delivering wine to our room on arrival (sorry no names known) which made our stay more enjoyable.

Overall a really nice stay.

Booked the tradewinds for one night before going on a dive live aboard. Location of the tradewinds is great, right on the esplenade and only a couple of minutes walk to restaurants and bars. I messed up my booking (as i do sometimes!!) but the reception staff sorted it out promptly and were really helpful. Thanks Guys. We had dinner at the inhouse restaurant which was great and being a Rydges member got 20% off all food and stuff consumed at the hotel (you can become a member on arrival and worth it). Room and bathroom did everything you needed them to do and the balcony was nice. The hotel had other ammenities like pool and spas but we didnt use these. If going on a dive boat you may leave too early for breakfast but dont fret they all servce breakfast oncec on board. Definitely stay at again.

We often stay at Tradewinds if needing to stay in Cairns for an early morning flight. Also late checkout 12 pm if you ask on check-in.
There are usually well priced last minute specials on rooms - most have a nice view over the esplanade.
We travel with young kids/infants and the rooms are big enough for all of us - if not a little dated. Right beside muddy's playground for the kids to get wet and cool down. The hotel pool is also good for small kids with a gentle slope - Rydges supplied inflated toys over these past school holidays.
You have to pay for underground parking but there's plenty of street parking but it tends to fill up at the end of the day.
