I travel to Cairns for work quite a bit and have tried a few hotels. My criteria for a good room generally focus around sleep quality, ability to make my own breakfast or basic meal if I choose, ability to do some exercise, and free car parking. This hotel gave a great experience on all fronts.
I had a very large room. It did face south west towards the city and hinterland as opposed to the other side of the corridor which faces the ocean, but the room benefitted in being nearly double the size.
There was a very comfy king size bed (2 x king singles together), dining suite, basic kitchen ie microwave, toaster, jug, plates etc, usual desk unit with tv, and a fairly good sized bathroom with shower over bath.
Amenities were soap, shower gel, shampoo and shower cap. I would have liked some moisturiser but you can't have everything!
There was a good sized pool that I managed to do laps in on the esplanade side of the hotel.
The basement held some cars (rest open air parking) and I noticed an ice machine and coin laundry there.
Breakfasts (if you get it in the restaurant - I didn't) were quoted at $15 for continental or $18 for full cooked if paid for at the check in desk.
They have a free shuttle into the centre of town (this was on the quiet end of the esplanade).
All in all a great night sleep was had with the comfy bed, block out curtains, good air-conditioning and quiet room in general.
Very clean & comfy.
