The stay here was a mixed bag. While the room was big and had all the amenities, somehow I didn't enjoy my stay there.
Firstly, the check-in, all the lady was interested in telling us was how we would be charged to use the laundry machine, charged to make a call, charged to use internet(Somehow internet seems to be a novelty in entire cairns).
The bathroom is pretty average(with the glass partition between the shower and the bathroom which surely ensures water all over the bathroom floor if you aren't careful), only one of the lifts had lights in the them so once the doors close you wouldn't know which button to press to get to your floor.
There are ofcourse many good things :like the beach towels was a nice touch,the garden in the middle was cute, the lady at the travel desk was knowledgeable and helped us plan our road trip very well. Free parking was definitely an added bonus.
We got a really good deal on Hotwire so we stayed here, I wouldn't pay the full price for this room. Would recommend, only if you get a good deal on the price of the room.

Got a great breakfast & room deal for 3 nights, found it so nice ended up staying 5 nights. Good walkable location but not in town where it can get loud & noisy with all the restaurants. But close enough for us to walk the 1 block to restaurants like Splash (great family run seafood restaurant - always does a great meal!) and the night market.
The room service was good as it is from the hotel restaurant Sirrocco - can recommend the lamb dish & my partner has the prawn pasta.
I would definately book this hotel for friends coming up to spend some time in Cairns.

Don't be fooled by the outside of this hotel, it's amazing. The rooms are newly updated, and very comfortable. The bed was the best night's sleep I had in Australia. Clean linens, nice furnishings, the room was everything I could ask for.

The staff were unbelievable. They went out of their way over and over again to be helpful. The front desk staff were always friendly and knowledgable, and when our tour was cancelled, the woman at the tour desk was able to re-book us on something else within 15 minutes.

The location is great too, a quick walk to the night markets, or the "downtown" part of Cairns, and it backs up to the esplanade. You can easily walk to the lagoon, and use the hotel-provided beach towels for a dip in the pool, or a day trip.

We had drinks and light snacks at the bar, and were very pleased with the portion sizes, quality of service, and professionalism of the staff there.

First time staying here and I found that the staff are the best among the other Holiday Inns that I've stayed during my trip in Aussie. Very efficient and patient too.
The room is also big enough for all my luggage and other stuff. They provide enough beach towels, probably knowing almost everyone staying with them will go to the Great Barrier Reef. However, the design of the shower needs changing. Instead of shower curtains it's those half glass panel, which I found quite annoying cos water keeps spilling out on the floor. Water pressure is a bit weak too so it took me ages to have my sunscreen lotion/suntan oil completely washed. Other than that, the rest are good.
I also realised that the trees on the other side of the road outside the hotel have lots of bats on it so sunset could be a quite a scene.
