Reception staff were helpful, room was satisfactory but breakfast was only served down the road at their sister establishment. The 'full' breakfast was costly and poor but I did have dinner there one evening and that was the exact opposite: good food at a reasonable price! Main drawback is that the hotel is located a 30 minute walk from the centre of town. There is a good backpackers' bar and pool area nearby.

We stayed there for 5 days on one of their deals, stay 4 and get 1 free. Arrived there and the girl in reception could not do enough for us. The room was not flashy but, everything was there that we needed and the balcony was our favourite haunt at breakfast time. We wanted to do the normal things that people do on holiday, find out about tours, rent a car, know what was available locally, everytime we went down to the reception we astounded at how helpful and friendly the staff were. Nothing was too much trouble and they were only too happy to ring around for quotes or anything we were interested in.

I stayed a week with various family members whilst my Dad was in hospital. Units were spacious and comfy, if in need of a little tlc and general maintenance. Staff were friendly, beds made & towels changed daily. A week is a little too long to go without bathroom cleaning or floor washing, but when I gently asked the staff for assistance with this I was given all I needed. We had a front ground floor, 2 bedroom unit -the lights were left on all night, but after improvising a blanket curtain it was okay. Some noisy guests did disturb my Mum who had a front bedroom.
This hotel is just a block for the Esplanade (Cairns' Mudflat???) and quite close to the town centre.
Overall for the price I was very pleasantly surprised.

I stayed here for 3 nights. The airconditioning did not work and the room was much too hot. The pipes made terrible loud noises all night. The bedroom and bathroom were both dirty and poorly maintained. We had requested a double bed and received a double and two twin beds leaving little space to move around. There was no safe and no lock on the inside of the door. The hotel was a distance from Cairns and involved walking through poorly lit graffitti covered streets. There were people fighting outside causing noise. Reception had limited hours closing at 8. They were unable to call us a taxi in a rain storm. The room smelled like mold. There was a charge for wireless. Do NOT stay here.
