“Best Location ?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

From the excellent welcome at reception, to the resolving of a very few minor problems, we could not fault the attitude of management and staff. Add the ideal location for views and access to the attractions of Brisbane, and you have very nearly the perfection of accommodation choice. The rooms were spacious, clean and more than adequately serviced with appliances, with 3 bedrooms for our party of 6. The shared pool is a joy and our grandchildren spent a lot of time in it, benefiting from the shade afforded by the surrounding mature gardens. If we have a criticism it is that internet access is slow, with "dated" wired modem and relatively expensive extra cost (this appears to be the "norm" in Oz) - where is the free, wi-fi connections that are in most hotels in other parts of the World? There is free wi-fi in many restaurants and public spaces within Brisbane, to compensate. We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas visit and will definitely stay here again in the future.

Room Tip: River view balcony attracts the morning sun and is shaded later in the day - good views are the bonu...

“Excellent location”

Fantastic location, rooms pretty tired..these are residential apartments not hotel!!.if you are going to rent these apartments consider doing lots of research as to how to get around from Kangaroo point have all your train and ferry details clear before you arrive that is if you are checking in outside of their reception times. There needs to be all this info in the rooms,as Kangaroo point location is fantastic once you suss out the transportation side.We used the hotel reception up the road for maps etc as reception was closed by 7pm Friday not open when we left at 7.30am Saturday for the day.Wayne fantastic he made what was a problem,no luggage storage facility avail if you check out on a Sunday morning and have a night flight the receptionist tells you there is nowhere to store luggage..! the receptionist actually said book something else!!Ask for Wayne. He came up with a solution to keep bags at the bottom of the exit stairs..they were unsecured but at least we did not have to drag them around Brisbane for the day. Thanks Wayne! It really is a beautiful location and I would stay in the area again.

“Good Basic Apartment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

Arriving outside of office hours is a fun exercise in map reading. The process involves using the house phone on the outside of the reception door. Call answered by a large noisy call center. Operator took 10 minutes to find my booking, putting me on hold 3 times. Then the combination to the safe and find a key with directions.

The directions are a generic photocopy of a photocopy of a Fax, with 2000 words on it. So not easy to read, certainly not at night and certainly not in the rain!

Car park entrance is a few streets away.

Apartment was pretty basic mid 1990's construction. So think concrete painted walls, aluminium windows and beige carpets.

Apartment was clean.

I don't think that the photos on the .com.au site are representative of the apartments. The photos on the .com site are more reflective of the apartment I stayed in.

I would stay again at the right rate, which I think is between the $100 and $150 per night, not worth more.

Might be worth waiting 6 months until the new apartment building being constructed next door is finished. Otherwise accept the 6am start to the noise and end of your sleep.

“DIRTY!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

Well, I was very disappointed by the state of my two bedroom apartment. The position of the Bridgewater Terraces was FABULOUS and the staff were friendly but it was all let down by the fact that my accommodation was so DIRTY! The dishwasher, cutlery and bathroom were filthy.I had to clean them all myself on the first day.i wouldn't risk staying there again for that reason.

“The Bridgewater Terraces - a little oasis in Brisbane near CBD”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

I have found this lovely serviced apartment simply by googling. It turned out to be a memorable place to stay.

My unit was 2 bedrooms, 2 bath rooms, and 2 balconies. The kitchen & lounge were facing east overlooking Brisbane River.

I couldn’t wait to wake up every morning to do my daily yoga and meditation to see the beautiful sunrise reflecting on the water.

I sat on my own very private balcony had a breakfast watching a little ferry pass by. What a blessed way to start a day.

The unit had everything I needed.

Hair dryer, basic kitchen utensils, pot and pans, a few little containers to store some muesli etc, enough dishes, cups, TV with DVD, air con and the weekly cleaning service was excellent.

The Bridgewater Terraces was managed by this very lovely friendly couple Lesley and Wayne. They were super efficient and very helpful and always I had prompt responses to my enquiries.

The dedicated gardener was doing wonderful job. The gardens + our surrounding were always so tidy and clean it as all looked after very well.

The complex had a Pool, Sauna, Spa, a little gym. The little oasis like a tropical garden setting with a beautiful trees/palms, a little water creek is running through between the apartments. I felt very much I was in my second home. Abundance of beautiful birds was everywhere, and I saw even the water dragons running around.

The location is really excellent. City or a little shopping village in New Farm, China town, Fortitude Valley, South bank, Botanical garden, all close enough to walk and of course it was very handy to have a easy ferry access from 3 wharfs (Dock side, Holman St, Thornton St,) nearby Bridgewater Terraces.

Thanks again for the warm hospitality to the all people who look after the place.

For anyone considering a visit to Brisbane for first time I would highly recommend the Bridgewater Terraces. Speak to the Lesley (in reception) or Rayoni (the owner of the Bridgewater Terraces) as they will bend over backwards to assist you to make sure your stay will be comfortable. I will definitely be back again for sure.

Extra info re the Bridgewater Terraces area

New Farm

Nice little shopping village (library (internet access), cafés, hardware shops, organic health food shop, local grocery, Coles, post office etc)

Power house <the funky event venue> (Nice restaurant, café, park)

=To get to New Farm

Use back door to get out to the river side, walk along the river catch a small city ferry from Dock Side to cross the river to the Sydney St. (First stop)

Walk alone the river through the park to get to the Power house or turn left on the Brunswick St, to the shopping village. You can also walk straight down the Sydney St, turn left on the Brunswick St to get to the shopping area.

Either way is not too far to walk.

Brisbane City & Botanical Garden

Catch a ferry from Thornton St, to Eagle St pier. (First stop) takes less than 10 mins.

Or you can walk over the Story Bridge.

You will be surprised at how everything is so close and easy to access.

Brisbane is a surprisingly clean and compact city.

South Bank

I have walked many times from Bridgewater Terraces to South Bank along the river. It is a very pleasant easy walk along the water.

The walk has been clearly divided into sections for car, bike, and a pedestrian walk.

South bank is still part developing but it is such a nice place to just chill out after work as it is only one bridge away from centre of the city. You can cross the Victoria Bridge within 10 mins. There is a neat man made beach called Street Beach.( you will see the life saver!)

A lot of cafes, restaurants, also the night market.

Theatre, Library, Event venues, Art Gallery, Maritime museum, in all one area.

TAFE, QUI, all very close by.
