“Location, Location, Spacious, Clean and Friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

We had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful apartment hotel. Despite some of the adverse comments we decided to book purely for the brilliant location. To our pleasant surprise everything was spick and span, the staff were very helpful and the apartment was beautifully furnished.
Not that it’s important but at times we did appreciate that the cable TV had the most comprehensive move, lifestyle and sports coverage that we’ve ever had in a hotel. Each apartment is differently furnished and apparently not all apartments have the same cable TV coverage, I guess you are either lucky or have to ask. The bathrooms, spa and kitchen are done in tasteful marble with quality fittings, maybe we were lucky but one guest we spoke to had no spa and no office.

The cons are that parking is extra and it’s self entry after a certain time as the reception is not 24 hours but I guess that as it’s an apartment hotel that can be expected. We were on the 7th floor and with double glazing we did hear the occasional siren and street noise. Value for money? Most certainly, considering that the apartment was very spacious and nicely appointed and is stark contrast to the hotels and apartments we stayed at in Europe and paid a significantly higher rate.

Room Tip: Upper floors preferable, rooms seems to be individually appointed including furnishings, some rooms...

“Tired and noisy but well located”

Our room was a last minute booking site booking so we naturally got a lower floor which was fine but the construction noise was excessive from 0630. Rooms large and fine. Great location. It was a hot and humid day in Brisbane and the air conditioning did t work leading to an oppressive humidity and a poor nights sleep. Its my third stay but Would not stay here again

“Nothing special....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

2 adults and 2 young children.... stayed 2 nights in a 2bedroom apartment on the 8th floor.
The building itself seems quite well maintained, clean and presentable.

The first hint of the hotel being nothing special came with the luggage trolley... if your going to have one at least make sure all 4 wheels turn.

The room was well cleaned with nothing standing out.

The biggest let-down with the room was the furnishings. Its all good and well going with the historic look, but theres a point where historic becomes old and run down. The 1980's issue television that had no clear tv reception was also something that didnt fit with the otherwise excellent presentation of the room. The new windows that have been fitted are a joke... the main bedroom window swings out nearly a metre and you have to stand on the bed to open it.. surely something could have been done to re-furb. the existing windows and keep the historical look intact.

There was demolition works happening in the building next door which were obscenly loud in any common areas but blended into the general city noise when in the room.

The location in regards to proximity to th cbd and Queen st mall could not be any better and you are within 6yr olds walkin distance of all public transport and inner city action.

Overall this hotel would not take much to go from a 'wannabe' to a classy and attractive place to stay.

“Wonderful weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

Four of us flew to Brisbane for the weekend, none of us had ever been there before and found Macarthur Chambers to be wonderful. The two-bedroom apartment was very spacious and close to absolutely everything. I was abit worried with all the negative reviews but realised that if you're going on holiday, when would you have time or make time to go out of your way to thoroughly inspect your apartment for all the little minor problems it may have for you? We had an awesome view of the city, supermarket nearby, staff were friendly as were fellow hotel guests and it was very quiet. Would definitely recommend Macarthur Chambers to my friends and family.

“A wonderful holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

My wife and I had never been to Brisbane and wanted to stay in a place close to the CBD, within walking distance of the river where we could do self catering if we wanted.
We read the reviews and on our budget chose Macarthur Chambers because it ticked so many boxes. Some of the reviews we read about the place seemed a bit harsh and didn't put us off.
How glad we are that we stayed there.
The location was right in town, it was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly. Ok there was a bit of noise however that is a product of a busy city and wouldn't have been any different for the other hotels close by.
The after hours access was good as was the security and nearby grocery shopping was very convenient.
We would be happy to stop there again.

Room Tip: Probably the higher the better
