I booked this hotel after buying a scoopon for $99 online. I called up the hotel to redeem my scoopon and told the receptionist i wanted to stay in brisbane for 4 nights not 1. I asked if i should buy 3 further scoopons and she told me that i didn't have to and that she would book me in for 4 nights under the same offer if i paid the hotel direct. So all was confirmed and we arrived at the hotel last week. The man at reception was a bit unhappy that we were staying for 4 nights under the scoopon offer and said that we shouldn have been, he started telling us that weekdays are his busiest time and that he usually sells rooms for $170 a night during the week.....I had to explain what the receptionist had told me....
We had to ask for the wine that was advertised on the scoopon as well. It was advertised as being dished out on arrival...

The room was basic but nice and the hotel is in a fantastic location!

On day 3 we were awoken by drilling going on in the carpark directly under our room at 7.45am. My partner went to reception and was told there was nothing that they could do (carpark is part of hotel) and that it would end in 3 minutes. It was still going on when i went for a run at 9am.

Our last morning at the hotel we were awoken by the same drilling at the same time. Its not constant but in random bursts. Not nice when your on a relaxing break away from the mines in north west WA!

I stayed in the simple rooms that nevertheless were fine for my short stays. All the basics were available. Price and comfort level are a good combination. Simple breakfast is available but if you want a more bigger breakfast go to eg The Docklands cafe.

We visit brisbane annually to catch up with family and friends - so we look for something centraln and self contained. We have been very impressed with il mondo - the team were very accomodating finding a way to accomodate us both times we sought to extend our stay. We were lucky enough to enjoy an upgrade into a large one bedroom apartment - it was spacious,clean and well appointed . There is secure complimentary parking so we had the option of driving or getting about on the ferries. Kangaroo point is a single ferry stop away from the central ferry stop at eagle street and ilmondo is right across from the story bridge hotel - a great eating and watering hole !

but beware of the noisy pub opposite. If you can't get a room away from the pub then give it a miss.
We had an apartment which was good as the breakfast at the hotel was very basic. Our towels weren't changed and the receptionist told me we should have known to put them on the floor if we had wanted them changed! (there was no sign in the room).
There was no safe in the room which was a pity and also we only had one bedside unit/bedside light - not great in a double bedroom.
Good place to stay for a couple of days if you are exploring Brisbane. Not great for business travellers.
