I booked my stay online through wotif for around $150. Check in is at 2pm, I tried to check in at noon and was told my room would be ready in 30 minutes, which was appreciated. Efficient Reception staff took care of the paperwork, and I wandered across the road to the pub.
The serviced apartments have a nice little pool to cool off in, and gas BBQ facilities for the use of guests nearby. On the second floor is a small cardio/gym which should satisfy anyone needing a quick workout.
The room has a cozy lounge area with a two seater (which folds out to a bed) and single seat lounge. Small TV with cable sport, news and local channels. The kitchenette has a two hob stove top, microwave oven, as well as most of the necessary kitchen utensils. There's also a toaster, kettle, mini fridge with a small carton of fresh milk and of course a selection of instant coffee, tea and coffee percolator.
The bedroom is separated by sliding partition. The room has built in robe, dressing table and the bed is comfortable. Leading off the bedroom is a nice sized balcony with table, two chairs, and an ashtray for the smokers. (The Quest is completely non-smoking). The view from my balcony was of suburban housing and the bridge high above.
The Quest is located directly across from the Story Bridge Hotel's restaurant, called "the shelter" which serves very tasty food, and has a nice range of beer, wine and spirits. Next to the shelter is a "bottle shop" for your take-away liquor needs. Behind the shelter is the older part of the hotel, with public bar, beer garden etc. They have a live jazz band playing there on Sunday afternoons and even dancing. From the balcony you can hear the noise from the pub, and some noise from the overhead Story Bridge, but once you close the sliding door it's not noticeable.
Beside the hotel is a corner store which stocks essentials for self catering as well as an on-site take-away food outlet. I grabbed a bacon & egg burger from there and it was lovely. They also do breakfasts and provide table and chairs for eating on the premises.
Check out was also efficient and business like, if not outwardly friendly. There is free parking in the secure basement level car-park.
Taxi price from the Brisbane Airport to the Quest is approximately $40. The Quest do offer a "breakfast pack" with cereal and whatnot, but I skipped that. If you like to be a short "river ferry" ride across the river from the city, this hotel (serviced apartment) might suit.
