We prebooked a function for 21 staff.Arrived and no-one knew anything...for the next 90 minutes we were told to wait in the bar until tables were available.When finally seated orders were placed by us writing them onto a sheet of paper and handing to wait staff.
Over an hour later ALL of the meals(including entrees)arrived at the same time.Without exception,every steak meal was cold and 6 of the group sent steaks back because they were cooked "well"and not med-rare as requested .3 of the group had duck filled teriyake spring rolls(@$16.90 for a pub entree!)...all of them had at least one of the 3 rolls "exploded"and burnt.
Prices here are excessive.....really...cheapest steak is $33 up to $40.....raw material(steak)appears good quality but of no avail if the chefs cant cook the bloody thing properly and/or at least serve it hot!
We were a group who spent around $2,000 for this.....treated really poorly by staff who didnt really care....no management in this place at all.
Such a pity as the venue is excellent,location good and so sorry to see what was once an Aussie icon deteriorating to an overpriced/corporatised business which really doesnt appear to care.....just "get 'em in,rip 'em off...get 'em out and fill the tables again."
The menu prices are really up there with top capital city restaurants......too pricey for non a-la-carte pub with salads which had been plated a couple of hours before service......and for their steaks(which their website promotes as the best)cooked poorly and served cold.
....oh....and it took so long for our group to be served that we had to cancel a function afterwards because we had gone so far over time.

The steaks were nice, but nothing outstanding especially for the price. I found the kitchen/catering and bar staff rude. None of the staff seemed to know what was happening. I had reserved a table for 15, I had rung and confirmed the booking the day prior, however when I arrived the staff couldn't even find where we were supposed to be seated. We were told to order all our meals under the table name however when the meals were ready there was several entrees and a meal missing. When we inquired where the rest of the order was we were told they didn't take orders under table names only pager numbers. Why then were 15 meals supplied to only 3 pagers? Perhaps if they had better staff I might think about going back, until then its goodbye.

Of all the things one can do in Brisbane, take a river cruise up to Breakfast Creek Hotel. Its as authentically old world Brisbane pub as you can get. Choose your steak and how its cooked. Have a XXXX (Four X), which is a famous Queensland beer. Relaxing way to spend a lunch time. We'll go back.

Eating at the Breakfast Creek Hotel:
Casual atmosphere. Extensive bar. Order food at the counter. Order drinks at the counter. I had the Barramundi just to be different as steak is their speciality. Large serves. The Barra was quite nice but it is not gourmet fare. The steaks are huge. Just a simple beer for our beverage. They serve the legendary 4 XXXX beer here that you can only get at the brewery or the Breakfast Creek Hotel. Parking was easy out the back in a parking lot. There is a variety of seating available. There are indoor and outdoor dining options.
