We arrived earlier that check in but were able to check in early and given clean linen. There is a large kitchen area with lots of shelf and fridge room. A large social area with T.V although when we stayed it was quite and not many people around.

When we first arrived in the evening we had to call the manager out to let us in as the reception closed at 8pm (we arrived at 8.02pm) She seemed a bit annoyed to be dealing with us but took us upstairs and showed us to our dorm (8 bed).

The room was clean enough and there was only one other guy in it so we slept pretty well and the bathrooms were also clean. Its near the train station and has really good security.

One thing that lets this hostel down is that there isn't really a great vibe for backpackers, everyone is pretty quiet and not many people interacted but that could also be down to the people. It's common room was a little run down and none of the PCs were working so no internet or WIFI.

One other thing I would mention is the pub below were offering food in the hostel that actually wasn't available so there was a bit of an organisation issue there but generally not bad and if you book online its only $20 which makes it one of the cheapest in Brisbane and worth the money.

Having been to many hostels, I would still say this was my worst experience ever. The location is great if you are planning to go out at night as we were. However, everything else is not good. The entire hallway smelled of B.O. and feet. The carpets were disgustingly dirty. Like seriously gross. And, after setting our things down on the beds and going out for the night, we came back to someone sleeping in one of our beds! They had overbooked the room and my boyfriend and I had to share a tiny twin bed when we payed for two. Imagine if it had been someone else I was with. When we told the person at the front desk in the morning, she said she would talk to her manager and call us to give us a refund, but we never got a call or a refund! Stay at BUNK if you are looking for the fortitude valley area.

Having recently returned from our world trip, here is our review for this accommodation.

We arrived at this place and were a bit disappointed. It was shabby and the area is not great either. The beers in the pub below were extortionate and did not offer discounts for residents! Our room was ok, we stayed one night and were pleased to leave, but all in all it wasn't horrendous. We would recommend to try to book elsewhere instead for a better experience.
