“Meh.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

As other people have mentioned, YES; this place is verrrrry loud at night. But that said, if you like to get amongst the party and dont plan on sleeping til after 3am anyway this will not be a problem for you. The rooms are OKAY, nothing amazing but not particularly bad either. Just 'okay'. One plus is that it's very close to the airport train line, heaps of places to eat and drink and is priced pretty good. The european girl at reception was stunning too (haha - had to say it).

Room Tip: Get one without south africans or poms.

“Dirty. 24/7 party accommodation.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011 via mobile

We stayed here for one night.
No on site manager when you need him/her, pointless when you're locked out of your room at midnight and he doesn't return til 2am.

Drunks lying in reception, common area disgusting with empty bottles, food and spilt drinks on the floor. In the morning expect to wait in a que just to brush your teeth or wash your hands.

No one knows how to flush or clean a toilet. Communal kitchen with food in the sink and dirty pans over the benches.

Don't have any expectations because they won't be met. Stay here if you need a bed in a central location in Fortitude Valley.

“Perfect stay at Prince Consort Backpackers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

We arrived at Prince Consort after we landed in Australia for the first time. In the time between landing and finding our real apartment, we needed a place to stay. Prince Consort Backpackers was the perfect fit: cheap, friendly, helpful and locally placed just outside central Brisbane.

Students, backpackers or anybody else looking for a stayover with friendly vibes, free pool, showers and home cinema possibilities: VISIT PRINCE CONSORT BACKBACKERS!

“I hope you like pubs because it's like sleeping on the bar”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2011

Noisy, expensive, and kept in only mediocre fashion, the backpackers leaves much to be desired. During the week I was there, the music played on until late in the night from down below, and individual converstions could be made out. For the cost of the single room, it would have been better to stay at the more expensive hotels in the city

“Watch out: they pay people for good reviews!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2011

No joking, if you posted a good review you have to show it to the staff, and then they give you free internet. There are actually notes in the computer area with this message on it! So don't trust all these good reviews, they are very misleading and attracted me to this hostel for the wrong reasons.

The only nice thing about this hostel: the dvd room. For the rest, you are in the middle of the party place... nice if you want to go out, but NOT if you need to recover from the trip first. It's like your bed is in the middle of a club, even with earplugs I slept about 1 hour. Drunk people ran in and out the room, switching the light on at 3AM, but forgetting to switch it off. So you have to climb out of your dorm bed to do it yourself. Rooms unclean, and showers so small you can't even turn in them.

One advise: go to Brisbane Backpackers Resort or the Bunk instead.
