Seems as though these folks are new to the hospitality business. I can share a couple of examples:
1) The housekeeping staff rarely, if ever wiped down counter tops. They also took towels that were on the ground (indicating they were dirty) and put them back on the rack. Bins were not emptied regularly. During my 3-night stay, items I had thrown out on Monday were still there Thursday morning! Amenities were not replaced if used unless a call was made to request them
2) The restaurant manager was so concerned about "table turnover" that he cautioned my 3 colleagues and I to not stay too long. We were using the restaurant space to conduct an after work meeting for a short time and ordered plenty of food and beverages. The main reason we used the restaurant was because wireless internet is offered there and there is absolutely no place else in the hotel to work apart from hiring a function room. Restaurant manager, please get some customer service training and recognise valuable customers vs. restaurant lingerers!
3) Does anyone think $23.50 for a continental breakfast is reasonable? When I brought this concern to the front desk, I got a speech about the competitive environment in the area. Sorry, I could care less what your neighbours are charging. I could travel 1km away or less and get a FULL breakfast for about $15.00. High prices are a part of Aussie life, but this is ridiculous and the "apology" was meagre.
4) Vegetarian options were scarce in the restaurant.
5) NO wi-fi at all in the guest rooms. This is a problem, especially for a newer hotel. We came to Brisbane for business, but this hotel is not set up for it.
They should focus attention more on SERVICE, but otherwise the hotel has nice views and the beds are comfy.
Value was mediocre overall.
Room Tip: Rooms that face the bridge or the Gabba are best, but eat elsewhere.
