“Stay somewhere else”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Stayed one night there. I have been a regular customer over quite a few years but I won't be back again. It has slipped drastically in recent times. Reception was unfriendly and curt. I am used to having a credit card swipe for security reasons but this time they actually charged me $150 as a deposit for the key. Sure it was voided on departure but one would expect a swipe of my credit card would have been sufficient. The key is required to enter each floor of the motel as there are no lifts and this posed problems from two perspectives. It required putting down luggage to open the door each time. My wife was delayed after the first door and was stranded in the stairwell without a key so had to go back down to the ground floor. One in the room the smell was over-powering and despite opening the balcony door, the smell remained for the full duration of our stay. The air conditioner was so noisy that I had to turn it off during the night to be able to sleep at all. Overall I would not be able to recommend these premises. It would appear that lots of attention has been spent on security and very little on maintenance or staff training in hospitaliity. I won't be back.

“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

Good location, rooms were sufficient and loved the balcony. Secure parking and a pool were a bonus.
Our room wasn't the cleanest and noise from within the complex really travelled and echoed about being quite noisy with people coming from town in the early hours of the morning.

“OK for price but some BIG misses”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

Good position, clean but no Iron and ironing board (have to go to laundry to get them) is not convenient for business booking. Tomorrow's clothes hanging over shower to get rid of creases. Won't be back because of this.

Dear Jennifferr,

Thank you for your review on your recent stay.
I am sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with our services. I would like to kindly inform you that on request we are more than happy to provide guests with an iron and ironing board if they don't want to use the ones in the laundry.

Again, we are disappointed to hear that your experience at the Sapphire Resort did not meet your expectation.

“Very Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

I stayed at the Sapphire Resort for 6 nights by myself to attend a work related course. I chose this hotel due to its close proximity to the course venue and for its very reasonable price (<$100/night).
On arrival, the front desk was efficient, polite and able to answer my questions. There was no delay in being served. I didn’t expect a hand with my luggage given the price I was paying, the limited luggage I had and the fact the desk was staffed by only 1 person. There are 3 levels to the hotel (including ground)- so just be mindful of booking a top level room if you have difficulty getting up stairs. There are no lifts. Breakfast is not included.

The room was a good size and appropriate facilities. My room had a queen bed, small fridge, kitchen sink, kettle with tea and coffee making facilities, TV, alarm clock, a small table and a balcony. The ensuite was reasonably basic with a shower/bath, toilet, wash basin and hair dryer. All facilities were clean and in good working order. But there wasn’t much else. I think the addition of some basic cutlery and dishwashing detergent would have been very useful.
One notable feature is that the hotel does have regular movies playing on the TVs. Whilst there isn’t a large choice and times are fixed, I found this to be very useful. The room was certainly quiet and I had no difficulty sleeping as a result of noise.

The hotel also has laundry facilities (pay washer and dryers) and a basic kitchen facility on the ground floor. There is also a pool in the hotel. There are 2 restaurants attached to the hotel. I didn’t use any of these facilities during my time here.

The location of the hotel is very good. I regularly walked into the city (distance ~ metres), and there is a small shopping centre (including a Coles) a short distance away. I didn’t use any public transport during my stay.

The only real downfall of this hotel was the quality of the housekeeping. Whilst the room was serviced daily, you will need to request that bed linen be changed- otherwise will just put the same linen back on. This issue regarding reusing bed linen didn’t worry me. But given the time and effort they spent making the bed I wonder why they even bother. There appeared to be no housekeeping other than throwing the sheets back over and changing of towels. If I was there with my wife we would have certainly requested daily linen changes.

Overall I would certainly stay here again if travelling by myself. The hotel represents very good value for money in a very good location. Just don’t expect to get more than what you paid for- this is no 4 or 5 star luxury resort.

Dear MerlsWA,

I would like to thank you for your feedback posted on Tripadvisor.

Please note that there are only limited stock of dish washing liquid, shampoo etc available in our rooms, we are happy to provide guests with some more on request.
Although there is no cutlery in the rooms, we have them stored at reception and we are happy to provide it to guests if required.
As proud of being a Green Star property, our housekeepers don't change the linen in our rooms every day unless it has been requested.

Again, I would like to thank you for your feedback and we hope you had a great time in Brisbane.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the very near future.

Kindest regards,

Melinda

“Basic at best”

I wouldn't stay here if you can help it. Yes, if you get a room for less than $100, it's good value, and it's in a great location, close to west end and walkable to southbank, but it has some serious issues. Mainly, very noisy, people going in and out of their rooms and down the corridors all night kept me awake. Also, not that clean, (although i've stayed in several different rooms and some were clean and others not) the furniture is very worn and needs replacing, the airconditioners are old and very noisy at night, and there are corridor mats that curl up at the edges and are a trip hazard. The 'kitchen' pretty much consists of a microwave. resort it ain't.
