“disgusting hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

i booked this hotel on the internet and upon arrival my husband and i were absolutely dissapointed and disgusted. firstly actually finding the hotel was a nightmare - we had a rental car and there was absolutely nowhere to park when checking in. when we actually did finally find the place and checked in, the directions we were given to the car park builing were so confusing, we had no idea where to go. when we got upto the room - it was terrible!! it was the smallest room i have ever seen and if you are claustrophobic do NOT book this hotel. the room was dingy, dirty and tiny. the blinds half hanging down the window were broken and tangled and didnt atall cover up the view of the next buildings wall, the bed was as hard as a brick and when i checked for cleanliness there was a used tampon wrapper down the back of the bed, by the pillows. we were so revolted that we decided there was NO way we were staying there, so we went back down - told the clerk we were not staying and cancelled our other reservation we had there. we did ask for a refund but were told no way, so i would definately not recommend this hotel to anyone but the most desperate and hardy traveller who had no expectations whatsoever - traveller beware!! 0/10!!!

“Can't really fault this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I stayed here a night last year and it was fantastic. Room was VERY clean, sheets, bed, bathroom - All spotless!

The room came with a good sized cupoard to hang clothes up, the bed was a good size and quite comfy, it had TV and Air Conditioning that worked perfectly. Sure the toilet and shower was small, in fact the room itself is small. But who cares? You don't spend all day in a hotel, you spend it out on the streets enjoying the night life. If you're only there to sleep/shower and it's absolutely perfect.

It is also in a great location. Staff were very friendly and the restuaruant down stairs was fantastic!!!! I had the best breakfast ever. For $12 I ended up with an epic breaky cooked by a lovely lady who obviously takes pride in her food and her restuartant.

I honestly can't fault anything. If you want a cheap place to stay for a VERY good price, and if you're only there to sleep and shower, then this is the place to go.

“Great location but small room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We stayed for 1 night before getting a flight up to the Whitundays and it was an ideal base to explore the city - very close to Roma street station, parklands and other major attractions. Great if you are only staying a few nights, and even though we didn't expect massive rooms, by the time we put both of our suitcases in we didn't have much room.

The room fittings were modern and the bed very comfy but the bathroom was very dated and small, however it did do the job for the one night we stayed in Brisbane.

The staff were friendly and helpful, allowing us to check-in early, appreciating our long flight from the uk.

I think this is a good value and comfortable hotel, right in the heart of the city, but i would only stay here for a couple of nights as the room was on the small side.

“hardest bed ever.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

I stayed here for a few nights and booked because of the location (which is central and very convenient) Also it was cheap compared to other central hotels. I suggest to maybe go a bit fiurther out of the city or accross the river and u may get a hotel for the same price of a much higher quality. Some of the staff were very friendly and helpful and they allowed us to check in early which was great after 2 days of travelling. The reception is clean and has alot of information on trips and excursions around Queensland.
You do not get breakfast but it is available down stairs, it rather expensive but i suppose the size of our portions made up for that! If your after small cheaper breaky, there is a small place to the right of the hotel, just on the corner under the bridge that does great breakys and cheaper prices.
This hotel has a lift, which is a rather frightning experience but it does what it does and gets you from 1 floor to the next.
The rooms, well the rooms are so small that we had to lay our suitcases by the door each night, on top of each other and then move them to the bed to get out. It was a mission moving heavy bags everytime u needed something or wanted to lie down or move at all! The room as advertised does not come with an Iphone dock but does have a good TV with a good mix of channels. there is a tiny wardrobe that will fit maybe 5-7 items in, no draws. The window was tiny, and old with frosted glass. We were unfortunate to have a window next to an alley where they dumped bottles all the time! very noisy down that little alley way! We did have aircon, which worked fine. the bathroom was simple and did what all bathrooms should do. Yes it was small. but what would you expect with a room fit for a borrower! The water from the shower does leak everywhere so be careful when u exit that u dont slip.
Our room was cleaned daily by a really friendly and smiley lady.
This hotel has computers to use and also wifi if u have your own, but it is really expensive. I suggest going to an internet cafe with free wifi and buying a coffee as it will be much cheaper and u get a coffee out of it!
Overall, if its a cheap 1 night your looking for then why not, more than 3 days i wouldnt recommend due to the hard bed.... which infact didnt have a real matress. It was a wood frame with one fo those bumpy foam things on. At 1st it was okay, but after my 2nd night, i had a very bad back and i have never had back problems in my life!

Room Tip: dont stay more than 2-3 nights as the very hard beds will cripple you!

“Just Don't !!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011
1
person found this review helpful

Booked in for three nights in a double room. Handed back the keys on the first morning and walked out. Could only get a couple of hours sleep until my back was in such extreme pain from the bed. The bed conisted of a solid ensemble base with two 'egg carton' style foam underlays as the matress. The shower was the width of my laptop brief case and even less room around the each side of the bed. There needs to be legislation to put these places out of action. Three star, you've got to be kidding!!!
PS: I feel so sorry for the staff who work there as they were very polite and nice. A beautiful old building that needs to be completely guttered internally and rebuilt with decent size rooms.

Room Tip: Just don't - there is better value available in Brisbane
