“Funky Hotel - comfortable nights sleep”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

The hotel is quite funky - I liked the decor and the beds were comfortable. Staff were nice too and very helpful and friendly. I guess the only criticism I would have is the restaurant doesn't open till 6pm - so if you want to eat you either have to order room service (which defeats the object of going to the restaurant), go elsewhere, or have bar snacks (wasn't too much in the way of nutritious snacks available). It would have been nice if the staff member had asked if I was staying at the hotel and gave me the option of something from the room service menu to eat in the bar, instead of her bringing it up to my room which seemed a bit pointless.

Room Tip: Don't get a room near the lifts!

Hi KTJMelbourne,

Thanks for all your feedback! We do try to be as flexible as possible with our food availability. During the week our restaurant is open for brekkie until 10am, lunch from 12 - 2pm, and dinner from 6pm. We recently released the Nibbles Menu to fill in that gap between lunch and dinner in case any of our guests get cravings and want a snack downstairs instead of ordering room service.

We've had another look at our Nibbles menu and you're right in that there aren't many nutritious options available – we'll have a look at this. I must admit it's a bit difficult when the snacks are so delicious! We appreciate your feedback though and we should try to be a bit healthier :-)

Hope you come and stay with us again soon.

Kind Regards,
Caitlin

“A one night stay - all good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

As a family of 4 trying to find budget accom in the city is almost impossible..I booked direct through Urban web site a week before we arrived and got a twin room for $135 (wot if was alot more). The room was spotless, everything was fresh and clean. 2 double beds - cosy, the room is not big, but we didn't plan on doing to much in the room. Bathroom was tidy/clean with everything you need at reach... Water does come under the shower door, but a towel placed infront socked it all up. The pool and spa were great, again clean. Staff on check in were excellant - the lass working when we checked out seemed bored.... It's an easy walk into the city and only took us 15mins to walk over to South Bank (we left the car at the hotel after checkout - pay extra to park). No complaints - everything clean, great beds, close to the city (no noise with the windows shut).Yes we would stay there again esp at the fantastic price we paid..

“Excellent stay close to CBD”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Stayed for one night on Feb 1st in a twin room. Have to say this is the nicest hotel we have stayed at in Brisbane recently. Close to places to eat, the Spring Hill Loop Free Bus stops on the doorstep with multiple stops around the CBD, friendly staff, check in and out were easy as. Nothing to complain just a nice hotel, nice area, close to transport and ammenities. Booked through the hotel which was cheaper than the usual cheapy booking sites.

Room Tip: If they are appointed like room 111 then you should be ok

“Ok if you at paying $150, otherwise poor value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We paid $270 a night plus parking and wifi made it $300. Not sure why this site shows free wifi - its not. This is an older building with some renos - which does not make it worth the cost of a newer hotel (lipstick on a pig). Room was small, bathroom was reno'd and small. We had a large balcony with one lonely metal office chair on it, which was rusted and worn from being outside. We had a view of the apartments across the alley, so we were not able to keep our curtains open and lived in the dark. Reception needs a better attitude toward customer service, the first answer was always No - which shouldn't be in your vocabulary. Youll notice the mgmt responses to these reviews have been dismissive of the concerns listed - this is reflective of how you feel staying there too. Basically, if you can find a good rate, stay here. If not, pay the same for a more central and classier hotel with professional service. I've added a photo of our sad balcony.

Dear FreqTraveller12

Thanks for taking the time to write your review.

I’m very sorry to hear that you thought our staff and responses were dismissive – our staff are chosen based on a cheery disposition and ‘can do’ attitude, plus we respond to each and every review and follow up within the hotel regarding all concerns.

It would be great if you could contact me at marketing@hotelurban.com.au to let me know where you saw free Wifi advertised. I’ve thoroughly checked Trip Advisor and our own site and am unable to find it – we do offer complimentary Internet access on our Macs in the Business Centre located in our hotel foyer.

The view of your balcony from the room does look a little sad, most rooms when standing on the balcony have splendid views of either the city, nearby parklands or both. You are right though, not all views can be seen from within the room, and a little more furniture would make them more appealing.

Thanks again for your feedback, and I hope to hear from you regarding my query above.

Kind regards
Marsha

“Delightful Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

What a treat it is to stay here!

The atmosphere right from the time I entered the front doors was simply amazing! Without doubt, the staff here are amongst the most customer service oriented of any hotel in many long years of travel.

Despite renovations going on, my room was delightfully fresh and clean. The bed is to die for and the pillows are amazing. The bathrobe and slippers waiting were a treat for a tired traveller.

Well situated for tourism and business. Staff knowledgable in tour guide mode!

The outside lounge was lovely, the inside dining area lovely, the food was fresh and ample and served by smiling staff.

And it was clean. Clean.

Friendly, efficient and clean counts for so very much when you travel a great deal. And as a solo woman traveller, feeling safe and secure counts for a bit too. The individual elevator cards required to get anywhere off the main floor immediately reassured me.

I would recommend this hotel, gladly. And I am thoroughly happy my travels brought me here.

Room Tip: Take a chance to enjoy their nibbles menu, available in the main lounge relaxation area.

Hi Karen M G,

Such a nice review! Sounds like you had a beautiful stay, and, of course, we're over the moon to hear it.

We agree that it can sometimes be quite daunting travelling on your own, so we love hearing that our gorgeous staff looked after you and gave you a little home away from home while you were in Brisbane.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write about us, and we're thoroughly happy that your travels brought you to us too :-)
