“Never again, don't stay here.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Unfortunatly I discovered this website (trip advisor) after I stayed here, all the reviews are accurate. This place is awful, it is not even worth the price, you could not pay me to stay there again.

The staff are rude, it was almost like we were inconveincing them by checking in. Check in was 1 o'clock, we couldn't check in until 1:30. The recptionist (Rita?) stuffed up our door key causing us to be locked out after 2 days.
When checking in we asked what floor the pool was on, the receptionist said 'Floor 3', when we went to floor 3 we saw a sign saying that the pool was closed. When we asked another staff member he said it would be open at 5pm that day. Surprise surprise it was NEVER opened the whole time that we were there. The pool and the location were the only 2 reasons we booked this hotel.
So far it seems like pretty petty excuses but it gets worse...

Myself and my friend were both bitten by bedbugs, all over our legs and back EWWW!
There was a tear in the carpet which I got my toe caught in causing me to trip, if I had something in my hand it would have been really dangerous.
The facilities are outdated, the microwave is smaller than my laptop, the toilet wasn't cleaned properly, the T.V didn't work properly.
Friday morning at 8am there was construction on the floor directly above us, I'm talking power drills and saws while I'm trying to sleep.
We were given one double sized blanket to use sideways on a King sized bed wtf??
The room service staff were helpful, giving us extra towels and blankets when asked, them and the Japanese recptionist were the only decent polite people working there.

I reccommend everyone I talk to NOT to stay there.

Room Tip: Room with a balcony, other wise a good room would be at any other hotel.

“Good location but that's it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I booked here late on as my plans had changed at short notice and I wanted to make sure I was central while in Brisbane having never been before. The location was handy for Central Station. Other than the location there is not much else going for the hotel. My first thought as I approached was that it was closed down, the entrance resembles a building site. I am sure it will be nice once they finish the work. The staff were friendly and polite. My room was very dated and there were a few dubious stains on the carpets and curtains that I tried my best to ignore. The drain in the bathroom floor would often give off a rather foul smell too.

“Avoid”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We arrived in Brisbane hot and tired from a very long flight, looking forward to relaxing in our room. During the lukewarm welcome from the staff, we were told that the room would be checked before we checked out to ensure we hadn't trashed it!

Feeling mildly insulted we went up to our room, and found it wasn't up to basic standard. Admittedly we didn't pay much for the room, but regardless of this you expect a room to be clean and in working order. We found a glass under one of the beds, coins on the floor, bits of paper and something very suspect that we hoped was mud! One of the lights in the room didn't work, the guest compendium was torn and the whole place was tired and rough around the edges. We decided we weren't comfortable with this, and as we'd been made to feel unimportant on arrival, we decided we wouldn't be asking for another room, but a refund on our pre-payment.

Sure enough, the reception staff were unhelfpul, and we were told this wouldn't be possible. Luckily we had booked through a travel agent, and they were able to handle our complaint. Best Western should be better than this!

“Very Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

This hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the Queen Street mall in Brisbane so the location is quite good.It is also close to Central railway station so it is quite easy to get to from the air port. There is however nothing in the vicinity of the hotel in terms of restaurants, bars etc. The property is also located at the top of a fairly steep hill so it is not suitable for any one with mobility problems. The hotel is a little dated although renovations to the reception/ bar are underway. The rooms are OK but nothing special and not overly clean. Ours had a balcony but the door was welded shut. The laundry was also 'out of service'. Not a great place to stay but the price was OK.

“Great place for the price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

After reading reviews on this place before I stayed here I thought I was going to dread my new years stay. Honestly this place is great, sure it's no Hilton or any other 5 star resort, but it isn't trying to be. This place is a simple room, with a balcony, a small kitchen, a bathroom and a tv that's about 7 years old. It has aircon, and a couch. Some of the finishings are brilliant, but this place cost $100 odd over Christmas/new years. It is a 3 minute walk to queen st mall and a 2 minute walk to central station. I can only think of 2 things I didn't like about the place. 1, you had to walk up the red stairs also known as Jacobs latter a lot goin in and out of the city. The other thing was the smells in the corridor walking from your lift to your room. It smelt like dog food or vomit or cat litter, once you are in your room you are fine. Honestly, I would stay were again for the price. I can't see why so many people complain...
