In the last 5 years I have stayed at the Novotel (Brisbane) because it has been consistent in all areas ... good location and friendly staff! Love my Accor privileges too!
The pool and gym I use frequently so my only suggestion would be to update or have better maintenance of the gym equipment.
Otherwise I recommended it to all my friends when they visit Brisbane!

It can be hard to find decent accommodation in Brisbane, especially for a good price. The Novotel offers cheaper rates over the weekend, obviously trying to supplement their mid-week business guests, so fit the ticket perfectly for my last trip to Brisbane. I stayed Friday to Monday in a standard room, and found it fairly average and comfortable.
The rooms aren't huge, but are modern and clean. There was no view to speak of, but the bed was big and comfy. Reception staff were aloof, but not rude. My only real complaints would be that my room was right near the lifts, which continued to ding fairly loudly throughout the night, and that housekeeping came in much too early for a weekend. Overall a pleasant yet unremarkable stay. Well worth it if you're able to get the lower weekend rates.

Very noisy function in the lobby made check-in difficult, but once we were in the room we were very comfortable. Shower a little cramped due to the presence of a large handle on the wall, which would however be a bonus to an elderly guest. A bit tight for a larger person.
